Hi All,
I need your wit and wisdom.
My 99 SV has a noisy cam chain.
What later (better) tensioners fit?
What if any modifications are necessary to fit later tensioners?
Am I better fitting manual tensioners?
If I do fit manual tensioners how and how often do I adjust them?
Any help appreciated
I believe the 2003 model tensioners fit. The models after that are different and I wouldn't bother with a manual one.

The compatibility seems subjective if they fit or not.
Is it the front one buy any chance?
Always thought the '03 tensioners fit the curvy.

Some mechanics say they do and some say they don't
I have a 04 tensioner in my curvy and it works great, just a pain to do, hope you got small hands and some long allen keys

Would it not depend more on the miles covered than the time?

Had k3 ones on my 99 bike for maybe 6 years now, far superior to the old ones. Go straight on, no trouble. You can release them without unbolting them as well - you just have to slip a long, narrow flat screwdriver down the camchain tunnel and press on the little ratchet lever. You need the complete thing as the end plugs etc. are different to yours. Never had to fiddle with them after fitting.
