Hi boy and girls
Just wanted to say hi..
I have just bought an SV650 in what seems so far hottest shape.
She is Black with full fairing although prob not Suzuki.
I wanted something different to the four pots I've been used to and lilies the charm of this bike.
It's had a few mods brake lines polished wheels bobbins and a titanium full system which drives me nuts and think I might even ditch if I don't get used to all the popping and banging on shutdown prob needs re jetting but we will se.
Overall I like the bike not my first but first for 18 months last bike was a ZZR in fact all of last 3 were ZZR CBR before that the Kwak 900 and lots before that.
Anyway this was to say hi and hope to be able to contribute in some small wal.
Thanks for reading

Yeah I know I'm getting there.. It's a hoot to ride so light and nimble. Previous owner did mods also changed rear shock for non oem and front springs ride is hard and needs setting up to be fair.
Didn't even consider SV until I viewed this one and that was it bought it there and then! The popping and banging I will get used to prob a cheap after market can and pipes I don't know always run stock items in the past. Think it's some thing like Akrapovic ? Don't comment on spelling I don't have a clue. Looks nice on the bike though I must say but next door were not happy when I fired her up at 7am this morning for a little run out .
Cheers for reply bud
Akrapovic aint cheap if that is what's on there. Especially a full system.

No big name on the side of the silencer titanium for sure will have to have a closer look at it. He had 4 Suzukis all his pride and joys all mint all same type of exhaust systems except hi TL1000 which I think was Japanese Yoshimura ???

If it's popping and banging that much, check the air hoses for splits and holes. It might pop n bang a bit but not majorly.
I had a black one like that, with polished wheels that had a high level link pipe to Scorpion can, Swingarm bobbins and black Hel brake lines. Was a very pretty SV. Only talking about it yesterday... Is it a W reg?
Happy riding B-)

The 1000 pops/bangs a lot more ('satisfyingly'??) with baffles (2 into 2) removed....disappointing when they're put back in!!!!

I fell in love with this one soon as it started up.
Taking a bit of getting used to and need to back off the suspension a tad as too hard for me. This one has the HELL lines and bobbins for paddock stand but yet to pick one up, got a huger to which was a bonus. Would quite like a light tint screen for her but that will have to take a back seat for now as wife does not understand me nor did she know I was going to buy another bike so looking over my shoulder for the killer blow which is probably coming:reaper: :smt101
Will try and find a local place for a check-over valves and stuff as shims if needed are beyond my mortal abilities, if anyone can recommend a place in or close to Northampton??
This is the rear wheel which is nice and shiny for now at least, keeping the sprocket that clean is going to be a faf.

Thanks for the warm welcome..

Croeso!
Most likely cause of popping and back fires on over-run is air getting into the exhaust system and igniting un-burned fuel in the exhaust gasses. Look for leaks in the exhaust system and in air hoses around the PAIR system as already suggested.
Enjoy the bike.

Will do, I have a Haynes manual on the way this week and will read up before stripping, bought a Owner hand book as well so can get plenty of info from those two, plus I quite like reading these things..
