Hi all,

My k12r makes a rattle type noise from the clutch/gearbox, the engine revs will drop make a rattle/knocking noise and then then the revs pickup for a minuet or so then it happens again, but if you hold in the clutch the noise doesnt happen and the revs stay constant, any Ideas?

The noise described relating to when the clutch is pulled in or let out sounds alot like a warn clutch basket. Notchy fingers or plates wearing.

Do the k12r's have any thrust washers or the likes ??

No idea, the noise is when the clutch is out.

definitely gearbox related. Need to take it off and get it inspected. Are you on a forum for the bike?

Yes, all Ks should have a thrust washer (a.k.a. compression ring) between the clutch nut and the O-ringaken from kbikes.

Yeah a few bit never get any good answers, its just had an engine swap at a local garage, theyre gonna drop the gearbox, hoping it wont be expensive or cost anything

Sounds like it maybe something small like a bearing or washer. Fingers crossed for you! On the K series, are the gearbox separate from the engine like on the R series?

Cheershope you get it sorted,but your only trouble with the 1200 is bmw no longer make or sell any/most spares for the gear box/clutch,its second hand parts or the complete 1300 gearbox as i understand it

Could be the anti-backlash gear?
