Thinking of buying a sub £200 spare helmet and have been drawn to the Caberg Ego, I really like the internal sun visor and the ventilation system looks good too.

Any of you guys used one of these?

Any other suggestions in the £100-£200 range? My Bell M5X Daytona, though a very plush nice lid, has a crappy visor retention system requiring tools and is not so good when the sun is very low. I like the idea of an internal sun visor though I've never had a lid with one, do you guys rate them?

Thoughts please :)

I had an Agv Stealth S4 with an internal sun visor and I absolutely loved it. Was great not having to mess around with replacing the main visor depending on whether it was going to be a sunny day or not. Take a look at the Agv range. You may find something that you like.

I had a Caberg Jutissimo and loved the sun visor. I wear glasses so now with my Shoei I have to faff about with prescription sunglasses though I've found a pair of Ray Bans that fit inside really well, but if I go into a tunnel on the M25 I'm blind! The downside with any helmet with an internal sun visor seems to be the weight of them.

I have one in the champagne colour. Internal sunvisor is great as is the pinlock. The ventilation is very cooling during the summer. Comfortable as an all day helmet & good build quality. Not noiser than any other helmet I've tried. Good all round helmet and well worth it.

Used a HJC IS 16 nice quick and easily operated internal visor system.
The IS 17 I tried just don't fit the same, so bought a Shark S900. It visor rested on my nose so had to dremil it. The sun visor operation not as easy to use but Ok.
But I spotted a fluro KBC VR in J&S for £75 fits like my Aria and quite plush. £16 for a gold iridium spare visor and easy peasy to swop. The tunnels on the M25 just flipped it up.

+1 for the Caberg Ego. Had mine for about 18 months, now use a Nexx XR1R but kept the Ego for use with my bluetooth headset.

Not too heavy; sun visor is good (mechanism is smoother than some others I've seen), same with the external visor; ventilation system is very good and never let water in; noise levels better than my Nexx. Overall quality was good I thought for the price paid. Think the plain ones are still £115 from most places.

I just had a look at the Nexx XR1R and XR2, they look like totally amazing lids and the reviews confirm that everyone who has ever used one thinks they're fantastic. They seem to be retailing at £200 std and £300 for carbon which is right at the top-end of my budget, but budgets are meant to be broken so I might wait for one more wage packet to come in.

It would seem that Nexx have got every detail spot on, lots of riders report that once they try one their Shoei, AGV, Arai, Sharks etc get retired the very same day.

Luckily I have a Nexx dealer just up the road so I think I'll go see how they look and feel in the flesh.

Managed to get my XR1R Carbon for £220 as the XR2 was being released. I know this is going off-topic from the thread title slightly but if you can stretch to one I'd recommend it, I absolutely love mine. Definitely go & try one if you can. I'd spent ages reading all the good reviews, decided to stump up £200 for a standard one (still v. light) and saw the deal on the carbon; no-brainer.

The best thing I think isn't even the lack of weight, it's the size of the view port. First time I rode in it after using my Caberg was slightly surreal, like I'd forgotten to put it on. Vertical and lateral vision is miles better.

The airflow is enough to make your head cold sometimes, the Caberg was certainly a lot warmer, but this is a blessing on warm days.

The only downsides to it are the lack of internal sun visor (to be expected from that kind of helmet, but still a pain after having one), the fact that the visor only properly clips down on the LHS so you get slightly more wind noise from the right than left, and the extra faff of the double-D ring strap (though this is meant to be safer)

If you find out what size you need I'll have a word with my friends at Lids Direct.

Folks rate the Caberg lots - I reckon for the price it's difficult to beat. Found this review of the caberg evohere (http://billyscrashhelmets.co.uk/caberg-ego-motorcycle-helmet-review/).

I have the pump Shark S900 too, yep the liners on mine went a bit loose. I gave it a good wash and it regained a bit of life so ok now. Im a fan of the internal visor and the weight is fine for me. Only downsides, venting could be better, and i think the wind noise is a bit loud even with ear plugs. I had a Medium Spada lid before, and my Shark is a small (and I thought i had a big head). I tried Cabergs in a shop before and they just didnt fit for me, wrong shaped helmets, for my head :p

I have Scorpion exo 500air with internal sun visor.
Really nice fit but one thing that is irritating is wind noise due to visor mountings.

Me and the wife are both equipped with Shark S900, great lid for the price.

Will never buy a lid without the internal sunvisor after using the shark, however I will agree with the noise level being quite high.
