View Full Version : Easter Monday - Southend Shakedown - Supervox's BBQ
Supervox

Monday 21st April 2013 - Easter Monday
As usual the Ace are having their traditional 'start-of-the-biking-season' run to sunny (nearly always) Saaffend.
Also as usual, Chez Vox will be hosting a now traditional Easter BBQ - preceded by a short round the local lanes blast for any who may be interested
Time : 1:45 for a 2:00 departure
Meeting Place : As in previous years - the car park of the Lidl supermarket juts off the seafront in Woodgrange Drive (see link to map below)
LINK TO MAP (http://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srf?x=589445&y=185317&z=1&sv=589445,185317&st=4&ar=Y&mapp=newmap.srf&searchp=newsearch.srf)
Directions from seafront : Ride east to the traffic lights at The Kursaal (sea on your right, arcades on your left) - turn LEFT - at roundabout take 3RD EXIT - look for LIDL SIGN on the right.
As always all Org-ans are welcome - a PM nearer the time would be appreciated just so we can get some idea of numbers.
Hope to see the usual suspects as well as some new faces - roll on Easter

I'll be there. May be on the bike, might be in the car if Chris is still without a license as I'm not sure he'd want to do a whole rideout pillion on my bike. He's not that brave/stupid.
Sounds good. I should be there :)

it's alright jambo, just don't be surprised when you come back to the bike and find your tyres are flat! ;)
May be on the bike, I'm not sure I'd want to do a whole rideout pillion on my bike. He's Fat Butt would take up all the seat.
Fixed it for you LPH :eye:

Look, I like you Chris I really do. Had there been an option for burgers, cake and you being there I'd have taken it. But there wasn't.

Since I've been bugging you about this for months I guess it would be rude not to!
So It needs an attendance thread?

Chris has a licence! The DVLA have said as long as he is carrying a hugely complicated letter about his person then he is OK to drive/ride even though strictly speaking his case is still under review. So I can bring cake and burgers and he can bring his own fat butt.

Blimey, it's like one of those European summits what with Chris back from Berlin and Anna from Portugal. Next thing you know we'll have Dave Preston turning up claiming Essex is practically in France.

Is there a wet weather plan?
Not asking on my own account of course... no fair weather bikers here.
Just hope the coals don't get too sodden :)
The weather will be dry. Honest the BBC weather app says so.
This isn't the sunniest county without reason

Yep - we get wet whilst out on the bikes & dry off back at the house.
We eat indoors - floor (or even chair if you're really lucky and very quick) space will be on a first come first served basis (with the exception of my place on the sofa and Mrs Vox's chair of course)
You get to put lovely wet gear on to go home in & I don't !! :-)
Seriously though - the forecast IS to remain dry for Monday down here but we'll manage (as we have before) if it does rain.

Looking forward to it, I tried to get more from EAR but they're either working or vanished it seems...
Is there any fuel near Lidl's? 100 miles to get to you so I'll definitely need some before the ride out starts, coming on the Rocket so I'll stick near the back so I dont hold up too many on corner entry :)
Yep your pass quite a few as you get into saf'end
This... "slow corner "lol. Exit speed warp factor 9

SuzukiGT380Paul is usually at another BH meet in Southend. Don't know about the others.
And I is, as you know working

Updated: Chris8886 has a licence but as of Thursday was MOT and taxless so I don't think he'll be there now.
Stu and I now unlikely to make it as I have to get my City and Guilds assignments finished this weekend - and I am doing 2 courses at once and already on an extension to the deadline - gulp. If by some miracle more impressive than Jesus coming back to life to eat the Easter Bunny, I actually get all my coursework written up this morning I'll text Jon to say me and Stu may see you all.

Cheers Jon and Gail, as I said on FB, lovely food, great weather for the most part. BBC said there would be a shower at 7pm and at 6.58 the first spots of rain hit my visor so for once they got it right.
Good to see you all, especially Anna, I hope the promised cake was to your satisfaction.
Thank you too fantastic Mr Vox!
peaheads: I gave up following you two to follow my nose when I saw a sign for the A13. Got home right enough. thanks!

I think you went the old pre-bypass way but as long as you got home safe that's all that matters. It's probably the shorter quicker route on 2 wheels anyway.
Stu's sense of direction isn't really that bad, he only occasionally gets lost finding his way out of the car park at our local Sainsbury or coming home from his sister's place 2 miles away where she's lived for 6 years.

Yep, thanks John and co for a nice day out on the bike and your hospitality
I got home finally and am in the process of warming up again, glorious day for weather, shame about the late afternoon/evening rain and cold!

Thanks again Jonathan, was a great little bimble and lovely barbecue.
Found my gear is just about waterproof. My chest and stomach is a little on the damp side but other than that was fairly warm and comfortable.
Thanks all!
t'was a lovely day very much enjoyed, and it had dried out by the M25 to home, as we got in and put the kettle on the heavens opened so that worked out rather well :)
