Due to recent changes in circumstances, I might be moving local to Maidstone/Gillingham. Any nice places for bikers to chill? Nice roads that aren't filled with shamefully driven cars? How often you guys meet up?

I'm at the Oakdene cafe most sunday mornings. always a good turnout for bikers there. The SELKENT lot meet up not too far from there, and in fact tomorrow evening, at the pied bull. There's a thread for that too.

Have you filled I. The correct paperwork and. Paid the correct amount of money to move this way?

And what atassiedevil says although I'm usually in bed Sunday mornings and not at the oakdene.

I was not sure there was any paperwork. Do I also need to go through some security vetting? Provide you with a recent CRB?

Yes. There is a 478 page form that has to be hand written in the native language of Gillingham; Chav!. It also has to be signed by all relatives, living or dead and a fee of 1 Crinkly Bottom Groat is payable to Emperor Squid of Sid.

Other than that, welcome to da souf init.

As for roads...plenty of them, none are devoid of numpties though. We meet every other wednesday at the Pied Bull (This week is a meet) and very occasionally we might even go for a ride on motorbikes. However, if you want to do a ride out, then post one up and we'll all come along and try an knock each other off :)

I'm glad it has to be written in Chav. I am not far from Hastings which as I am sure you know was at some point voted as one of the most prolific Chav towns. Even lived there for a good two years. I am well versed in the ways and linguistic flexibility that is Chav. Do you think that since I am so well practised in Chav that the fee could be waived? The 478 page form will be fun though.

Knock each other off? Bikes or reach arounds? Either way.. Never been my thing. I'm married. I can't be doing that anymore. Last time that happened I was very drunk and attending a lecture on how to be a Chav and they had us all sitting down in a circle. I still get nightmares. :p

What does he know, there are plenty of clear roads you just need to go out Sunday morning when the numpties are still in bed..... Most of the best ones are down towards where you are coming from though!

Thanks Red. Will be exploring them since still have good mates who live in Eastbourne and surrounding area and therefore will be making the odd trip every so often. Would be nice to meet some friendly SV owners in a new area though. Will say once I have moved.

Not your job, your customers. I was only kidding and suggesting a majority of chavs are tattooed.

Ie. Tattoos don't make a Chav. Chavs just like tattoos. I have 4 tats, a couple I regret. I'm not a Chav. At least I hope not. I can spell antidisestablishmentarianism.

You'd be surprised, I tattoo people of all ages and all social classes! Chavs like cheap tattoos, and I don't do cheap tattoos haha

My girlfriend has a tattoo on her wrist of an anchor and a heart... Weirdo.

Anyway, I'm from Staplehurst and its a lovely area. Stay well away from Park Wood and Tovil and you'll be safe

Been looking at places near and around Maidstone and Ashford. More affordable and some of them come with garages - safe place for the bike when it snows.

Feel free to pm me about areas/roads etc. personally would give ashford a wide berth though. Medway will get you a lot nicer area for the money compared to maidstone, really depends on budget.

Got a budget of 900 pcm maximum and need a 3 bedrooms, en-suite, family bathroom and a garage. So far Ashford had been the only area that has provided places with all that within my budget. Is Ashford really that bad? I would love to find a place in Medway as it would only be a walk away from Uni but it doesn't look like I will.

I live in twydall, which is 5 minutes from the dockyard if that's where you are going uni? You'll get a nice place here for that sort of money I would imagine. I bought my place here recently, 3 bed with a double garage couldn't get anything near that in maidstone. Not sure about prices in ashford but I know it's pretty cheap there. My mate left ashford after a chap did a **** outside his house in the middle of the day haha.

As I said take a look and pm me, if I can help give an idea of area I will mate.

Went on to rightmove and found a few in gillingham. There is a nice 4 bed with a garage that is only 10 mins from Uni. Yeah, Medway campus is where I need to commute to but the wife will be planning her commute to maidstone.

Will PM once I have considered it a little more.

Any thoughts on Sittingbourne? Found a nice place in Ashford as well - in the new development area off of the back of the retail park.

I'm based in Gillingham, work in central Maidstone, and am also looking for a small place of my own in the local area.

Zoom the map on the right to where you want to search, has been a big help so far.

I personally wouldn't live in ashford. For a start it's a mission from ashford to gillingham for your uni, and secondly the majority of ashford is a ****hole. Gillingham has some really bad area but also some really nice bits. Sittingbourne isn't bad nor is iwade, or Minster on the island. Steer clear of sheerness though. Sheernastyness.

Oh Rochester is decent too. And close for both of you.
