Edinburgh to Glasgow

As Lance says its basically carp. There are the odd roads that are decent. But if you're not in a hurry go round the top a d take the Gartocharn road and down over the Erskine Bridge. I can pm you the route I'd use if you want.

Figured. Might just head out Lang Whang / Lanark Road then motorway the last bit. Just can't face doing the whole thing on the M8.
