View Full Version : google
is taking the pizz.
sign into your gmail then sign out again... ermm no your not.
go do something that involves anything to do with anything that google own and they decide what they want you to do.
example, i signed out of gmail then went on gmaps and it was all strange and silly. closed my browser (firefox which i have set to clear cookies on exit) then back onto gmaps and all is how it should be.
so this tells me that google is tracking my activities:smt097 google.

Google is eventually going to turn into either Skynet or the Matrix. We're probably screwed whichever so, in the meantime, I just enjoy the convenience of having the same bookmarks on my phone, my tablet, my work PC and my home PC. And the laptop actually.
Boss has a chrome extension that tells you what cookies are tracking you. One website had 47!! Extension also lets you kill them all :)

I bought a Chromebook after being advised that it was great for travelling. Lies I tell you. We renamed the Chromebook as the C-rap book, the S-hit book or just that *&^%ing useless piece of *&^%! By buying this thing I have sold my soul to the Devil.
I hate it and if I knew then what I know now I would not have even bothered to look at it!
Bad google, naughty google, in your bed! Stay...

But they look so nice.
From your post I get the impression that you are less than impressed. Why?
Do you want to sell your chrome book at a silly loss
I'm bidding 50 sopondolies ;)

At a guess, and I'm not 100% if it's the same for all of them, it's because they are cloud based.
I think you get a measly SSD in it but it's not meant for use. You have to connect to the Internet to access your files and the web based applications.
So if you are in the a se end of no where on the other side of the planet with no Wireless internet you ain't gonna be able to do anything.
They pretty much all have the same key components.
And if you don't have Internet your out of luck.
They are just a big android phone when push comes to shove
Only you can actually download the apps to the phone and use without network.
Yes. Be ideal for my mum and her face ach and emails plus a bit of Web browsing

Wow, that is a hugely accurate hammer you have there and the nail is driven firmly home!
I was assured that even when there is no web access you can switch it on and it will still work on a basic level. This was what we call a "Lie" and is was terribly inaccurate. When stuck on a desert island, it refused to even start up the OS because there is no OS! It came with a years worth of free cloud based memory, but this failed after three days and we could no longer log in.
Would I sell it? No, not now that I am home because at home where I am broadband wireless it is great for logging into the Org, Faceachebook and buying carp on E-bay!
Oh, it also self deletes apps if it thinks that I do not use them enough. My App count has gone down from about twenty to eleven. I removed none of them and when I came to use one of them, it had vanished.
So this is an open message to Google. :smt097
Well that sucks! Worse than I thought then!
As you are keeping it this may be a bit pointless but you could prob return it for a full refund. Argue that you were lied to about its features and it is/was not fit for purpose which meant you missed out on a lot whilst on holiday etc
