in stages

1/ work out your getting/ have just got an SV so use your mighty google fu skills and find the org
2/ after a quick recce you sign up, with no clue what is about to befall you
3/ you will ask the same questions as the couple of thousand people before you, then you will be directed to the search function (but you Q will be answered anyway)
4/ you will start to dab your toe into the idle banter section more often, just with a comment here or there but nothing to serious or adversarial
5/ you will start to develop feeling toward other users , some you will find funny others you will think are muppets, some you will think are the font of all knowledge and then you start to be a bit more "yourself" with your responses
6/ now you have loads of org acquaintances of whom you communicate over the forum with quite happily (or not) then it happens, you notice that these people actually meet in the real world at strange things referred to as AR, GM, soho etc. so you decide to bite the bullets and attend one of these event , so with escape plan in place (just incase) you arrive at said location with another orger of whom you had a whole 20 min conversation with in a Tesco car park meeting up point for the ride there, set up shop and await the on coming storm
7/ after a few (read many) drinks you are grabbed by some random person and moved from point to point being introduced to a field/ bar full of strangers, a lot of hellos to loads to people ,of whom look and/or act nothing like their computer persona that you had in your head, you begin to relax and go with the flow of the event
8/ you start adding these people you met on this weird site on facebook and meeting some socially
9/ you realise that your use of the org has hit ridicules proportions , you have picked metaphorical fights with people you have never met , found out strange and wonderful thing about other members
10/ you buy a triumph
11/ you take "a time out" from the org , hoping to get back to some form of normality and back to your previous life
12/ this fails , you return with new gusto and more attitude with the easy and feeling of putting on a pair of your favourite comfy slippers
13/ you have finally worked out that a good percentage of your real life friends you met thru here, you organise your life to revolve as much a possible around you insatiable love of bike / trackdays / road trips etc. and now just refer to here as the hotel California
14/ you end up writing something like this

please feel free to add any points you think ive missed

Love DP

You have brain bleach on bulk buy for some of the photos you'll witness or if you're really unlucky things you'll see in real life... I'm thinking mankinis, onesies, sequinned swimwear, nipple tassels...

You'll discover that no matter how random the question, especially non bike related, someone on here will have the knowledge to be able to provide you with an answer.

A bit like the riders, not all cakes complete the journey in one piece, but cakes like bikes, come in many shapes and sizes and we the org do enjoy them all.

5.5 A moderator will change the title of your thread and/or remind you of the Org's 'U' rating.

I think I've only met two or three people off the .org both bloody nice people. One I feel will go a long way in racing. The rest of it is kinda true

8.6 you crash your SV
8.7 you crash your SV

I think you missed out:

8.5 you crash your SV

8.5.1 You post on the .org that you've binned your bike and don't think it can be repaired
8.5.2 DP laughs at you
8.5.3 Rictus points out which parts you need to fix and how cheap they are
8.5.4 Someone else on the .org sends you an indicator
8.5.5 You fix up your bike, possibly with some help

8.6 you crash your SV again

8.7 you crash your SV, and decide you might as well fit LED indicators and a tail tidy
8.7.1 you send one of your old standard indicators to some clueless newbie who's just binned their SV

3.1 at some point Sid_Squid asks you what bike you ride so we can figure out the technical issue you're having.

3.2 Sid_Squid advises you that Suzuki dealers sell Suzuki parts

6.1 at some point you wonder who Reeder and Hovis are as their names pop up occasionally. You search back until you find various posts from them and perhaps a video of a fool riding a sprung bike in a kids play ground and a loon with a box on his head and a long thread about Valentines day and you laugh a lot, then you realise they are no longer with us and even though you never met them you feel sad.

4/1. you stumble into the megathread by mistake where Bibio hangs out. you then chat a while to discover what a complete muppet he is and never return back to the megathread.
