Ok folks do any of you know someone in the central Scotland area that has skills with a lathe?

I have a paddock stand adaptor that needs a few millimetres taken off it so I can use it on the bike.

Any advice or dirrections would be appreciated.

Thanks

Dammit, me too now :)

I tend to use the bench grinder for this kind of job. I can simultaneously make stuff smaller AND significantly less round.

If that doesn't appeal, do you know what size pin you need as I have a few, some of which are spares.

Stick it in a jiffy bag, i'll give you the address in Dunoon of a man i know (my dad), send it to him and include a sae and he'll do it for you ???

Or take a wee ride over to Dunoon (ferry trip :D) and get it done there ?

This thread makes me feel guilty. Got my old man's Myford lathe sat in a mates garage and hasn't turned in anger for some years now. Just no space for it here in the 'shed of broken dreams', sorry Dean. :-(

I learned all this from my Dad when I was about 11. He ran his own business doing machining. I am pretty certain that he also has an abandoned Myford in his garage in Devon.

So has this thread turned into a rideout thread? TBH I'm trying to keep my mileage down..... But

Bibio with a lathe.

Now, the trickery that is going to get turned out if THAT happens. That's going to be worth watching.

Well people will keep trying to derail it with some nonsense about lathes, but yes. What's the route?

Sunday 1st of June.

Meet me in Largs at 10:30, up to the ferry at Gourock, over the water, get bit of turning done, then ???
Unfortunately thats over 200 mile return trip for me !!! But might be tempted to go a wee bit further.

Is this now an Ecosse Rideout ??? Sure my folks wouldnae mind you all calling in, you'd even get a brew, for sure.

Is there ice cream at 10:30?

Bit early isn't it Deano?

For stupid questions I mean, there's ALWAYS scope for ice cream at 10:30!

I thought was pretty much a given when the term 'Largs' is used.

Is that for the front, Dean?
I've got a Ricambi-Weiss stand for mine - have you got the size you need to end up with?

carelesschucca

Yeah i want to have the bike back on the full front stand so need to get the adapter adjusted so it fits in the bottom yoke. Had a quick measure amd it looks about 11 mm hole, but I've been told to just wait and let Rons dad have a look at it.

looks like it's started an org ice cream run. So its a double win.

You must be a shrinking violet, Dean 'cos mines a 13mm spigot as stamped on the end and measured.
Are you sure you're being forceful enough? ;)Did find you need to get the angle of entry right or it's a nogo.

Enough of this dirty talk I'll get jealous.

well I've got to say yesterday was a success, Rons dad worked his wonders and we got fed too. So big thanks all round go to the Orr family. Shame about the weather but we did get a double journey on the ferry. So it worked out a great day. Oh yeah we got ice cream at Largs yippee!
