wet front plug. do you have a mudguard extender fitted?

get a needle or very small drill bit and clean out the drain hole on the right side (as you're sat on the bike) of the front cylinder. Will also help if you remove and dry the plug.

Fender extender massively reduces the possibility of this happening again.

If you are popping the front plug out then slap some Vaseline around the HT lead when you put it back in.

Also at that age, lift the tank and look for the wiring connector on the LHS of the tank. It appears to have just a bunch of wires at the bottom and looks like a square black box. The top can be lifted off revealing the connectors. By 11 years it can be a little corroded inside, but a quick clean some Vaseline and raw rapid in insulation tape can work wonders.
