Right I took a chance on some adjustable clip on bars off eBay.
There on the bike on the left side in this picture and have been done completed now but I forgot the finished picture!
Hopefully they will make the bike more comfy but only time will tell.

They sit lower on the forks but adjust upwards and give a more "flat"bar appearance

Here's the difference between standard and new , approx 100mil higher and no need for cable extending either!!!!!

Well guys I can confirm the bars work a treat! Quick trip to matlock earlier and they are much more comfy, I may lower then slightly yet as they feel a little too high :-/

Took the sv650 over the snake pass earlier and I reckon the bike is easier to ride quick with the flatter bars on, there's more leverage to muscle it around, well happy!

That seems way too cheap for what they are. What's the quality like?
Gary1966
08-06-14, 08:07 PM
Well they are doing the job :-/ seam fine to me but I ain't any sort of engineer. No real way of telling I suppose, the threads are strong and haven't stripped when torqued up, feel solid once on, what more can I say :-/
Are these the ones from Hong Kong!
Was thinking of getting a pair myself, loved the comfort kit on my last curvy but these are a cheaper option.

yes mate they are, the levers from there are good so i thought why not try them
That was my thought as well!
Especially if you don't need to change lines or cables.

I might buy a pair or even 10 pairs, as they're a tenth of the cost of my Gilles vario bars
Well just decided to order a set,how long was the delivery Gary!
Saved to my watch list for when i get some more money! Whats stuck on your rev counter though?!
Gary1966
09-06-14, 07:47 PM
they took around 2 weeks, the thing on my rev counter is my sat nav mount, no wet sat nav for me!!!!!!!!!!
When mine arrive gary, does everything just go back on as normal.
No drilling or snaking cables!!!

Yes mate they are really simple. Just take off everything carefully and there easy. You will of course have to undo the centre nut on the yoke followed by the pinch bolts, after that simply remove the yoke, if you then take off the old clip ons you can then slide all the controls off the old ones onto the new ones before sliding the new ones back on.
I then sat on the bike to get the right position for me, they will only angle up so far but as you saw on my piccys it's a huge difference from standard, you can lower them down the fork legs and then angle them up more but I didn't like that position, mine are if anything a little too high now! Cant be arsed to shift em.now though.
Sorry for not replying I didn't notice I had a message and to be honest I tried earlier to message you back but foooooooooked up I reckon!!!!!!!! Technology and me really dont get on!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Any problems just ask mate, good luck and I hope you like the difference they make :-)

Oooh just one thing I did forget, on the switch gear there is a small peg which sits in a hole on the original bars. On the new bars there is no hole, I just simply removed the peg with a dremmel, make sure the switch gear is nice and solid after, if you can't get the torque on the cross head screws I would replace them for Allen head bolts
Thanks bud, hopefully will get them next week, will upload pics!

So my wife decided that she liked the position (ooh er!!!! ) on the old sv650 and consequently made me order here a set and fit them.
Here they are on her candy grand blue k3
Do the bar ends fit!
I remember getting the comfort kit on the curvy & had to get smaller ones.

Yes mate they did fit no problem. She rode it today to Scarborough (200+ mile round trip) and says she is well happy with it!!!
Rode nearly 200miles today, wrists were starting to feel it at the end.
Looking forward to get these fitted, are they easy to adjust when there on if I don't like the position!
Gary1966
22-06-14, 08:53 PM
yes not too bad, the pinch bolts just need slackening off to move them.I sat on the bike to make sure i was happy with the position
Changed my mind with these clip-ons,the pinch bolts hinder the position. If only they were on the other side the new bars would look more natural, just didn't like the angle. Will keep them though, might change my mind next year!;)

Yes to be fair I do agree with what you are saying, however comfort was my reason for changing and they have made a huge difference for me
It took me a while to set the position right before tightening everything up.
If you get time Gary.will you take a few close up pics.curious to see your set up.

Here you go mate, hopefully you can make sense of it.
The pinch bolts on the yoke do restrict how far you can lift the bars but they worked for me really well
I slid the clip on down the fork leg, adjusted the angle to roughly the right point then popped the yoke back on loose to check the pinch bolt would clear it.

Okay good luck, there not hard to do but may take a couple of hours in total. The second set of course were a lot easier on my wife's bike

So did you have any issues at all with switch gear wiring not long enough or breaklines not long enough etc???
Gary1966
16-07-14, 07:51 PM
No, everything is fine with them. Just bear in mind the adjustment is limited but it's far better than stock bars for comfort
rickylp
16-07-14, 08:11 PM
Sounds like it made quite a difference to your riding comfort mate
Gary1966
16-07-14, 08:29 PM
Yes it has, shoulder checks no problem now as its just more flat bar like, I bought a second set for my wife and she is of the same opinion
I took a chance really buying them and to be fair I did think they would be more adjustable but there fine for us and not a few hundred quid like others are!!

16-07-14, 08:32 PM
Yes very tempted to get some and give them a try, just want to take a bit of weight off my wrists.
Gary1966
16-07-14, 08:44 PM
Well they do work mate, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another set if I needed to.
Take a look at the standard to none standard photo I posted up, that will give you a good idea of the difference

So did u bolt the brake fluid reservoir to the clip on also?
The bars have 3 holes with screws on the top for the reservoir, turns out I had not enough time today to fit them. What I did was move the clip ons nearer the tank, will try them next week, looks a bit better!

Yes mate i did, i put a small spacer under the brake reservoir bracket and used a longer bolt
Did you adjust them Gary, still not bothered to do mine yet!
Went a good run today & felt good, maybe I'm just getting used to the clip-ons.
Maybe losing 2 stone since feb has helped!!! lol

Nice looking bars which I'd seen a while ago but wasn't quite sure if I'd run into the adjustment issues seen here. That's for a curvy.
Looking at the the positioning that's achieveable, you'd perhaps have gotten similar result by just swapping the OE bars around.
I'm looking at another option and will try and remember to post back once I've had a look at them.
Decided to fit these tonight, everything went fine, but I noticed the adjustment screw on the angle is tight, but the bars still move!!!
Did you have any issues gary,or change the screws for better ones.
Sat on the bike & it feels a lot better, just have to sort out how to make them secure enough to go for a ride, when I put my weight on them they move!!!
Gary1966
17-08-14, 09:07 AM
Yes mate they need to be really tight or they do move, like proper tight!!!!
Mine did move initially but have been fine since a "nip" up!!

There the same ones but in gold
They will nip up tight, mine moved initially when moving the bike in the garage but haven't moved since I nipped the pinch bolts again
Bought a new alan key, tightened bolts up,took the bike out for a run, awesome!!!!!
The difference is great, takes the strain away, things go back on as normal.
Cheers gary for the thread, might tinker with the angle over the next few weeks but these for the price are superb.

Really glad you got this sorted, i was starting to feel guilty wondering whether i had just been lucky with mine.
They are a really good buy and do make a real difference i reckon;)
If its dry on sunday I will give it a good run, seems to lean better in the corners!

Yes i thought that too, pretty sure its due to more leverage as they do sit further out as well as further up:D
Took it for a blast today,150+miles,felt great, the lean into corners is far easier, makes you want to go faster!!!
Bang for the buck these are cool, well chuffed..............
