Has a phone call today from a company telling me I had PPI to claim back. I was suitably unimpressed, but then Norman in the other end (apparently a wry popular Indian name) referred to a loan I had between two dates. The dates matched a loan I really did have, so I became suspicious and intrigued.
My new friend, Norman, then told me I was eligible for a refund. But this is where it becomes slightly worrying. I know I'm not due a refund on this loan because I have already had the money back. I quizzed Norman who told me after I asked that the loan was with Barclays Bank. It was at this point i said it wasn't and put the phone down.
How do these people know I had a loan between the correct dates, but not know who it was with? What else do these companies know about me?
