View Full Version : Too much rebound after suspension mods.

Finished putting my bike back together after putting in debrix emulators, .85 ktech springs and 10wt RSF fork oil. Problem I'm having is when I compress the forks they rebound past the rest point and then come back down which seems like too much rebound. I'm right in thinking this and can it be dialled out.

Thanks

you mean to little rebound.

there is nothing you can do about rebound other than mess around with oil viscosity. emulators do nothing for rebound they only work in compression. i start with 10wt then add 20wt till just about right. if you add to much rebound you will stiffen the ride up too much. you will never get rid of that noddy head syndrome and it's made even worse by fitting a stiff rear shock.

Not what I wanted to hear. Hopefully doing a track day next month so I want the bike setup as good as possible. Just got to hope the leather I ordered fit.

A static test can be helpful but I'd expect a fork to extend and then settle. The rate at which it returns is a personal preference. Too fast and the bike can feel unsettled and ping up as you come off the brakes. Too slow and the bike gets over whelmed by bumps and the forks pack down.

Take it for a ride if possible and see how you feel. The 10w RSF I suspect is close to a 15w Suzuki oil so I doubt it's off by miles.

If the rebound damping is too soft then you'll lack stability which you will probably notice most getting on the power out of bends. If it feels vague then, use thicker oil. That will also increase the comp damping but one step at a time, you can adjust that in the emulator once you have the rebound right.
