As much as I detest Insurance Companies for the legalised theft of my money just so that I can ride my bike on the road, it is a legal requirement and also gives peace of mind should the worst happen.
In 2009 I had dealings with MCE and frankly I have in my opinion never dealt with such a dishonest and unprofessional company. I ended up making a formal complaint to the Ombudsman and cancelling my less than useless policy. On the advice of a couple of Organs (orgers?) I phoned CIA Insurance and took out a policy with them.
Five years later and I am still with CIA after two accidents and several renewals. The service I have had from them has been excellent and they have accepted my bike modifications with out hesitation. I have ninety days of European cover so that I can go touring if I wish and my policy is fully comprehensive with only a small excess.
Total cost of my insurance? £100 and that includes cover for riding the wife's ZRX1100 too. We have two policies with them, one for me and one for the wife, we are covered to ride each others bikes and even though the wife has had an accident in her works car that was put down as knock for knock, her policy is still only £85 fully comprehensive for the year.
I have stuck with CIA because they are polite, very helpful and if there is a problem it is sorted quickly. I cannot in good conscience recommend MCE in anyway, however CIA have been nothing but professional and I highly recommend them to my friends here on the Org and not just because the price of my policy just keeps falling.
So if you are in the market for having a legalised thief put their hands into your purse and steal the last of the money from your hand to mouth existence, then call CIA. They make insurance almost palatable.
