Early on Thursday 26th June, we received a call that sadly Mac had passed away whilst visiting friends in Liverpool.
Mac had been unwell for some time, but had taken a turn. He passed away in hospital.
Mac had been a dear friend to a great many members of this forum, indeed he was one of the oldest in age, and oldest in time served here. A great many people have lost one of the kindest and funniest guys from their lives. His group of close friends here stretched far and wide.
Pegasus has lost his best friend, and what can only be described as a big brother or surrogate dad. Mac has seen Pete through some extremely difficult times and shared some fabulous journeys both in life and out on the road.
He will be truly missed.

If I could quietly request the respect and privacy of Macs relatives and close friends at this time, I would be grateful. Many thanks.

I was sat in Green Park last night with CMSD2 in the sunshine and we were chatting about regional meets. I said Mac was the one who would post up for a Sunday morning Essex bimble and how I'd done some good rides (and fry ups) with him but hadn't seen him yet this summer. How sad to see the news just a few hours later that he has gone.
Always great company, a proper gent with his lovely accent and big smile. I shall raise a glass this weekend in memory of a top chap.

A great man who'd do anything for anybody and when the phone rang and his number came up you knew you'd be chatting for an hour. Still riding around on a comical little 125 he left the stage while life was still giving him rapturous applause. Goodnight Mac old chap, see you on the other side.

Mac was the first person I met from the SV.org he introduced me the Essex Loungers.
We covered many miles, cafes and numerous cups of tea and toast together. He would often turn up and persuade me to come out for a midweek ride when I should have been working! ;)
He "babysat" me when I got back on my bike after my illness and became firm friends with my old man. He often popped in for tea and chats - lived a couple of streets away from us - we'll both miss him :(
I'm sorry to read this, Mac was a laugh on the times I met him and always had something positive to say.
He'll be greatly missed by many, myself included.

Perhaps Dizzy would be kind enough to post up details of the funeral if Mac's family are happy to have his biking friends attend. I would certainly like to have the opportunity to say farewell to a fine man if I'm able to. And also if they are collecting for a charity in his memory, or if not perhaps people would like to give a little donation to somewhere like the British Heart Foundation, as with a forum name like Dicky Ticker I reckon Mac would have appreciated that gesture.

If anyone requires the details of the funeral, PM me.
Just logged in after seeing some facebook posts :/
Lovely man who was always very kind. This was just one of the many pearls of wisdom he gave "As long as people love you for who you are age is something that none of us can prevent."
Loved catching up with him at the AR's and will miss him.

Ok, Lynne has said she doesn't mind if folk do turn up on a bike if anyone wishes to attend, after all DT was part of the biking fraternity.
We Would also like to ask if anyone has any lovely photos of Dicky Ticker can they PM me? We would like to make up a slide show of our memories to take with us on our laptop to display at the do afterwards, and to put on disk for Lynne to keep.
Donations to the British Heart Foundation would be preferred
Sorry if this is all a bit sketchy, but its been a very long week. :smt012

Well my boss has said that of course I can have the time off, which is very good of him as we are all meant to be in that day for our bicentenary staff photo. The slide show is a lovely idea Lou. I won't be on my bike so if anyone needs a lift from the train station to the crematorium please let me know. I will make a donation too.

We will be in the car on this occasion. Suited and booted. I have passed on the names of those wishing to attend as Lynne needs an idea.
The thought for the photos wasn't mine, it was a mutual friend who suggested it, and Pete thought it worthy to consider.

I met DT very shortly after starting riding and I really had no clue about anything. I didn't even really know my ar*e from my elbow when it came to bikes, but he was kind enough to spend time showing me how to service my bike and our friendship started then.
Being quite young when I got into bikes, I had lots to learn, and DT was more than happy to lend a hand. He helped me to repair my bike after a pretty big off when I wrecked all the fairings. He repaired the whole lot and sprayed it all for good measure. He never asked for anything in return.
The trips we shared together will forever be ingrained in my memory as some of the best biking moment's I've ever had the pleasure of enjoying. Some of the best times of my life were shared with this man and it really is with a heavy heart that I have to say good bye once and for all.
To those who knew him, you will understand what I mean.
Tonight, I've raised a glass to DT. The true friend who always thought of others, gave great advice and was always willing to go out of his way if he could help.
RIP DT
Only just heard about this as I rarely get onto the forum these days. RIP DT - you were much loved on the Org, as everyone has said. Thoughts with your family and friends.

RIP big fella.
Mac was one of the most gererous people I barely knew but he made you feel like an old pal every time he spoke to you.
He was also the first person I met from the org. I also was new to biking and he made me feel part of the group straight away. I haven't seen him since mid 2012 but always think of him when going to Tiptree jam factory.
I remember putting a big rubber stripe across his new immaculately shiny green triumph pannier with my boot when he let me try it and I was thinking 'oh sh!!t, he's going to be mad' but he just said don't worry Paul, it will polish out. Then I rode off with his alarm fob and he couldn't start it. He was as calm as you like when I finally remembered and he was just glad I came back as his wife was going to have to drive the spare one down. Such a lovely man. Said it was a good excuse for another cuppa. I wish I'd known him better.
Thoughts are with his friends and family. He always spoke about them when I saw him and Mac was a very proud family man.
