All,

So that this doesn't get awkward, I've got a secret I need to let on. I do not have the body of a traditional Adonis. I know you're all shocked, but it's OK I know the truth no need to flatter me...

Last time I needed a set of leathers I gave up trying to find something that fit and got a tailor made 2 piece set from hideout. They are brilliant but for some up-coming track excursions a one-piece would be handy and may even be required.

I'm about 6ft 4ish, and weigh the square root of sod all. My height is mainly made up in limbs, compounding the issue. Picture a spider-monkey in an Arai.

Now does anyone know any makes/models of leathers that may be worth trying out? I value my backside but these leathers won't be worn very often and don't need to be made of any particularly exotic animals.

Harpers in Essex can make a one piece suit to fit you, made my two piece as I couldn't get into anything off the peg and it's perfect. Just call them first to make sure Phil will be in as he does the measurements and makes the leathers but isn't always in, they also don't make the Titanium suit in store anymore. If you add them as a Facebook friend you get 10% off too so as little as £540 for a suit made to fit you which isn't bad. Oh and you can pick the colours too! http://www.harpers.eu/cat13_1.htm

Just cut a bit off each leg and give it to me. I know I've got a 32" inside leg already but being taller would be great. Problem solved for both of us.

I'm 6'3" and am all arms and legs too. I got some 2nd hand Hein Gericke size 54 one piece leathers.
They're a little short on the arms but still make it into the glove cuffs.
I'm a little hunched walking about but work great on the bike.
Could be an option if your after the lower end of the budget.
(They also stood up very well to bouncing thru the gravel traps at Darley, kept me well protected)

Myself and Dave do share a certain similarity. Bizarrely I can't find a picture of both of us in the same place at the same time. I'm pretty sure we're separate people.

Cheapest 1 piece they seem to have is ~£800, and I'm not sure if that includes tailor made. My hideout leathers weren't muuch more than that, and I'm looking for options that might be a little more cost effective for the few outings these might have. That said I'm sure it's good kit and I'm unlikely to grow out of them...

I've tried this, it's not as easy as I keep being told.

Thanks, worth a look for certain, every little helps.

I've got two left feet as it is, I doubt once they've been re-wired I'll be any more graceful. Let's put this on the back burner for now eh?

That's good to know, do you know which suit it was? I know they did a whole range of the things!

Thanks all, I know I may well end up having to employ a person with a big sewing machine but the budget's a little tight at the moment so all of this is helpful :)

I'll try to find a link later. In honesty the next size up would be ideal. Once I've got both chest and back protectors on, it fills em out ok.

These are the ones, size 54 too, at that price they may be worth a punt:

You could just ride in a sparkly bikini - I have one I could lend you - nothing like it to make you very keen not to fall off into the gravel.

Cheers, that's relatively local. This is the thing, I see plenty of used leathers on sale on ebay, and just after advice on whether any brands seem to come up "extra lanky" so I can keep my eyes peeled!
