Thank you all very much for the votes last month, after a little head scratching, I was inspired by a recent article in one of the bike mags about someone who restored a bike during the time his significant other was watching "strictly come icing" or something, the theme for this month will be:

"Just think, I could have been watching strictly..."

Open to anything you're doing or have done instead of slumping in front of the TV at the evenings or weekends. Here are a couple to get the ball rolling:

This is mine for the month. I could have watched it on the TV but I went out!

Well rather predictably instead of watching rubbish TV I was probably baking, so here's my first foray into modelling with icing, a Tom and Jerry cake for the older nephew. I didn't really have a clue what I was doing! Pic 1 is my entry (pic 2 is just to show that it was well received).

In a similar artsy theme to LPH I spend some of my free time doodling and such. Here is a selection of some of the ones I'm most proud of.

Was sat on the couch watching telly when I got a call to see if I wanted to play golf. Wasn't sure I could be bothered, but glad I did on such a lovely evening. Quick phone snap as I was lining up my putt...

Lady Poppy knows I find the mechanical bits of the early industrial revolution history very interesting, so bought me a couple of relevant Airfix models for Chrimbo. Have not put any of these together for years and it's remarkably therapeutic - way better than Strictly Come Baking on Ice.

I've just spent the whole weekend building this with my father-in-law. Took ages, but the kids LOVE it

Not only could I have been watching Strictly, I could've been watching the World Cup Final.... but I'm no football fan, not even passing interest.

Instead I drove out to Llangollen to get a shot of Dinas Bran sunset at "golden hour" parked up at the base and began my walk only to recall I'd left BOTH my freshly charged camera batteries at home! :smt093 Internally incandescent with rage I drove back, realised it was futile to try and return before the sun set so decided to try out some light painting in a previously visited site:

I spent 2 hours on site dashing around in the dark alone with various lights and torches  Working solo I was limited to 30 second exposures but got my pacing, plan and execution just right in the end.

Full disclosure:
Two exposures merged in photoshop and then lightroomed up the wazoo! :smt083

I could have been watching Strictly but instead I made my way to a local hill to watch the airshow in the sunshine, Here's a Typhoon going straight up. Tad noisy I might add.

Loads more pics <here> (https://plus.google.com/photos/110290879027978987793/albums/6038201435193429217) if you like this sort of thing.

I could have been watching strictly ..... if it was on a screen attached to the ceiling!

Monochromed and edge defocus.

I could have been watching Strictly, but I'd rather hike up Whitbarrow and photograph the wind blasted trees...

Seems it only rains here on the weekends, so instead of lying on the couch watching the telly as I've done all month,
I decided to ride to the mountains, rain or not.

And despite the forecast and threatening skies I managed to stay dry all day.

Shawthing takes my vote for this month, love the monochromed simplicity with all the elements to convey what's going on. Nicely done!

Ch00 and Sir_trev taking podium places.

Special mention goes to CharleyFarley for the biggest achievement though, pretty epic Sir!

has to be Sir Trev owing to the competition title.

Shawthing second for retreating to his den to get away from it, but i have a sneaky suspicion it's his normal hang out.

Brettus comes in third due to being superb photo skills but he does that kind of thing all the time.

all the rest are superb this time round.

Shawthing. Using B&W was spot on and it's well composed.

My podium choices are AJC - lovely spur of the moment shot on the golf course with some nice bright colours, and Brettus for pulling off a cracking effect.
