No, one for my head and the other two to protect my monster size balls.

Seriously though, why would you want 3? Are the Bell helmets any good? Never tried one on.

They are a top, well made brand, i wanted a flip front for touring but none left in my size, so got the wife a silver flip front for £66' you can't buy a cheap brand for that, I've also bought 2 mx lids in XL for £44 each !!!, I'm gonna see which one I like (one blue pattern and one white) and sell the other probably.

it's pretty much Bell that marketed and made the first full face motorcycle helmets. that's not to say that the main stream motorcycle helmets made now are up to the standards of their competition helmets which can cost thousands rather than tens or hundreds.

Same here! always late to the party! Really fancied trying one of those flip helmets, cheap enough to not worry if not my thing.

Can't bring myself to do it. I can try 6 different helmets, all supposedly the same size, and be lucky if one is comfortable. I can't see any realistic hope of buying a properly fitting helmet online.

Cannot take advantage of this as I'm short on coin. When I told Mrs LOM she said "I got a notification about that from Amazon a couple of days ago, but thought they're a cheap helmet so didn't say"
Wish I had the money as Bell are the right shape for my head.

What's the rating of these helmets? Reviews are saying they have no ACU stickers or anything to suggest what safety rating it has.

This is the one I bought but can't find any ratings for it unless I've got the model number wrong http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bell-A294FM5BLMX4-L-Helmets-Decal-Black/dp/B00JX9RMVY/ref=sr_1_1?m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1404563075&sr=1-1

I don't even need a new helmet but couldn't pass up on these deals. Looks like you get a tinted visor, stickers, nose shield and helmet bag with them which is a bargain. Wanted the white full face one but didn't have it in my size.

Mine turned up today, well chuffed, the wife's flip front is fantastic, internal sun visor too which it didn't mention on the description, wish they had my size.

Would have lived to have bought one but I have a slightly odd sized head, in that some brands require me to buy a small, some require a medium and I think it's arai that is a large for me.

Slight warning regarding sizing. I wear a medium and in the shop this seemed perfect. When I wore it on the bike though, it was very tight across the high part of my forehead. I took it back and was advised that the large would be too loose in a matter of weeks so stick with it. I did and I took a spoon to the offending polystyrene in the front. It took about a month to get it to a comfortable position but it's great now. It is a carbon Bell M4X. I think they are made for European heads.

I'd read that in reviews, but, I have also read that they are simular to AGV and Arai helmets, both of which are fine for me.

I like the helmet feeling a little tight, I know it's not gonna go anywhere then

Ordered another lid yesterday, was that impressed with the wife's flip front for £64 I ordered one in White, had to go for xxl though instead of xl but there is only two cm's difference in those, the two mx lids I bought were quite tight at xl but I've had this before with my airoh s4' that now fits fine.

I'm going to sell the white mx lid I bought, prefer the white and blue tbh.

All three of mine have arrived today and they are amazing. The M5X comes with a carry bag, two visors and tear-off sheets, not bad for just over £100

Dunn-y
07-07-14, 10:17 PM
Which one is the M5X?

The one I ordered only came with the clear visor, wind deflector chin strap and that was it. I never got the tinted visor shown in the product picture or any stickers.

For what is suppose to be a £200 helmet, it's getting some poor reviews.

M5X (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bell-A258FM5BLS01-S-Full-Helmets-White/dp/B00JX9UGXA/ref=sr_1_3?m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1404799270&sr=1-3)

MX4 (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bell-A294FM5BLMX4-XS-Helmets-Decal-Black/dp/B00JX9S146/ref=sr_1_10?m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1404799270&sr=1-10)

I am assuming you've bought the MX4 if you say its a £200 helmet, the M5X is supposed to be between £400 and £500

Looking at the reviews, they don't come marked with any BS or ACU accrediation?

Can anyone who bought one, correlate this?

Amazon review comments - "There is nothing wrong with the Helmet but has to be returned as it does not have any of the legal requirements for use in the UK this includes
comply with British Standard BS 6658:1985 sticker
comply with UNECE Regulation 22.05 sticker
comply with any standard accepted by a member of the European Economic Area which offers a level of safety and protection equivalent to BS 6658:1985
None of this is represented on the Helmet and there is no ACU representation so cannot be used on track either
beware as lack of markings can affect insurance and may be liable to confiscation should Police feel necessary.
As I said there is nothing wrong with the Helmet just a failure to Import it via the correct methods"

Cymraeg_Atodeg
08-07-14, 01:30 PM
I didn't notice, but, I'll check when I get back

Edit: I'm not sure about the stickers, but, I know the helmet does have the tag inside showing it meets ECE22.05 like this one http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/3f/Casque_homologation.jpg

And according to the governments own guides the label inside is enough: Page four of this guide (http://think.direct.gov.uk/assets/pdf/dg_195215.pdf)

Found some bell helmets in a shop yesterday and tried them on, worst fitting helmets I've tried. I think it's because I'm in between sizes for them. These ones were £500 too ha

Kinda one size don't fit all.
Even same makes don't have constancy.
It's a bit of a gamble buying online with clothing and protection gear.

I was told they are a simular fit to AGV and Arai, and considering I have worn Arai helmets for 4 years and have tried on AGV I was willing to take a gamble, fit me fine.

Just lucky I guess

That's what I mean. Mine felt great in the shop but after wearing for a little while it really hurt across my forehead. Fits fine now - it is one of their most expensive ones - retails at £450. By far the worst fitting helmet I ever tried was a Craft - looked really cool but a really odd shape inside. I do, however really fancy a Simpson one at some stage.:)

BTW, mine came with ACU gold sticker and BS kitemark sticker.

I have a box helmet with a fancy design. Worst helmet ever. It fits funny, it comes undone, the visor steams up when it's 28 degrees, they don't do pinlock, it's sh!te.

My flip front came today, well pleased, it's xxl but looking at bell sizing, there's only two cms difference between XL and XXL.

Wore my mx lid today green laning, I did sculpt some of the foam ridges off last night as they were pushing on my forehead a bit, I read someone else had done this so I did and it's great now :)

It's definitely true that people have heads that fit certain brands and that goes for motorcycle helmets, horse riding, cricket etc. Ride mag asked if I would like a free brand new Schuberth designed for women if I would review it but I had to decline as I already knew having tried it on at a bike show that it wasn't going to fit comfortably.
