Hi Guys,

So my bike was running but my carbs were badly out of sync due to using a dodgy homemade manometer to the point where the bike eventually cut out. I got some proper gauges to get the carbs sync'd up properly to now find the bike no has no spark on either plug.

Im picking up a multimeter 2moz in hope i can do some testing to eventually figure out what has gone wrong so this is where you guys come in.

What do i need to test, how and what am i looking for?

Any help and/or advice would be great

Thanks,

Si

how did the bike stop running? was it running ok and then died etc? need to figure out whether the spark plugs have given up due to being toasted or fouled, whether the current just isn't getting through (coil pack maybe?), flat battery, duffed regulator rectifier if the battery is dead etc...

compare your spark plug to this...

does the bike try to turn over?

get yourself 2 new plugs then see if you get a spark. if you still dont have a spark then i would look at the connections to the coils. then the charging circuit. it's very strange if the bike was running the it stops sparking, you have been in the guts so chances are you have dislodged a connector somewhere along the line, or you have burgred the plugs which is very easy to do. i have had a problem with a duke750ss where it ate plugs constantly. this turned out to be oval emulsion tubes which let the plugs get constantly wet which in turn broke down the resistance.
