Ok guys I've been thinking about the lunch break for this years GM. There are a couple of options with us being back at the base for the weekends merriments;

Option A - We have a normal ordered meal from the bar and its everyone help themselves to getting food ordered.

Option B - We can have a soup and sandwiches deal similar to the lunch stop in Applecross last year.

Please remember that there will be 30ish of us turning up to get fed at the same time. (well maybe less DP will still be in his scratcher feeling rough)

If I can get a wee idea on what everyones preferences will be I can get in contact with the hotel and get something organised.

Thanks folks.

Soup & Sarnie's worked really well last year, we did a lot better as a group, both for value and quantity. Sign me up.

Likewise, the Applecross lunch last year (was it only last year?!) seemed to work really well :)

We saw what it was like at Kielder when the AR arrived at Tower Knowe en masse, and that was just for coffee and cake.

Probably better for us, and easier for the hotel to deal with, a big simple group order of x bowls of soup, x bacon butties and x cheese butties I'd say.

I agree. It was soup and bacon butties at Ballachuilish on GM1 wasn't it? Should go down a treat again.

Plus we can give the hotel (almost) exact numbers before we leave in the morning, then ring ahead on the return loop so it's all roasty-toastie! :-)

Rolled up to the Rocky Road Cafe in Bellingham (as used for Breakfast @ the AR2014) on Saturday with 20 of the Dumfries Biker Group, took us an hour to all get food. Lunch took 1 1/2 hours from stop to start.

This is why it is a good idea to get Soup & Sarnies pre-booked.

Can we get a thick soup, not keen on brown water with bits floating !!! LoL.

Soup and sarnie/bacon buttie gets my vote.

right so far its looking like a resounding yes for the S&S.

I'll contact Mark at the hotel once the poll closes, it'll make their life easier and it means he's even more likely to join us on the rideout. Dunno if his Benelli will complete the whole trip but we can but see.

At least he'll have Preston to keep him company in the 'bikes broken down, I'll be in the bar' gang

to be honest Option C is purely there for Mr Preston. So he better use it...

Soup n sarnie sounds the most simple and none chaotic choice.

We aren't sure what we are doing yet, as we have one or two things to attend to during rideout time.

It was exceptionally civilised and most welcome on the GM in which Haggis refers. Nice sit down and relax, with a chilled chat with the peeps :)

Coronation chicken, cheese & onion, cheese & pickle, egg mayo.

Any of the above are excellent fillings.

Price will be £6 per head.

Please come and see me on the Friday as I'd like to collect everyones money up front so we can get numbers for the hotel. I shouldn't be too far from The Bothy Bar, well, unless I'm playing on The Kinlochleven Loop :D

And that as they say is that.

Got the weather arranged?

carelesschucca
08-08-14, 09:08 PM
Gies a break. I couldn't even get the weather sorted for today all I needed was less than two miles of tarmac to be dry and I'd have had a ball. Suppose I did get a wee while on track before Knockhill weather struck up.
