Protective film for plastics and tanks?

I'm looking to get protective flim for some of the plasctics on my bike. something like the Oxford Paintsaver would be perfect.

However being a tight Scotsman I think paying £21 for some sticky back plastic is a bit steep, has anyone out there found a decent product that I can cut into the shapes I want that isnt so stupidly expensive?

£21 is good depending on how much and what you are covering.

try your local car tinting/graphics place for a price.

I'm only wanting to cover the two areas of plastics that cover the rear subframe under the seat. so about 1 sq m at most.

I've used the Oxford stuff before and think its great just don't remember it being quite so expensive.

For your £21 you get a sheet thats 425mm x 665mm

is this to stop panniers from rubbing the paint?

its to stop legs rubbing it bungees rubbing it and just generally protect it... I could be really tight and just use gaffer tape when required but would like something slightly more permanent and less visable as I'm planning on using the tailpack more often. The topbox is great but it hurts my senses.

I've got some stuff you could use. If you get a rough idea of the dimensions you need I'll see if the sheet is big enough.

You could use the stuff schoolkids cover their books with. Won't last as long, and will need replacing regularly, but at a fraction of the cost would you be worried really?
Either that or a similar colour vynil wrap. Cheap as chips on ebay.

I use sign writing vinyl, matt black covers all the wee bits of frame , ets that boots rub on. much cheaper than clear stuff your looking at. I even have it covering rear fairing so my tailpack doesn't rub. Even tho it is matt black & the fairing Suzuki blue, yet to have anyone actually notice !!!

Even better than oxford stuu as it has a protective top layer you remove after fitting / stretching - gonna get me some !!!
