Mine is Snake's Pass, A57 from Manchester to Sheffield. That's to name at least, I've had more fun on some b roads of course, but I wanted a list of must see roads :)
Regularly go through cat & fiddle.. but of course the average speed cameras take away an awful lot for it. You might think they're necessary but that's neither here nor there, just want some must see road suggestions!

if the roads were in better condition (especially out of Girvan) then these would be the best biking roads bar none

I love the A86 just an epic bit of road.

I was down the Dalveen last week a wonderful bit of road that D&G council have tared and chipped YAY!

My favourite roads in no particular order are;

The Duke Pass (https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?saddr=Duke%27s+Pass%2FA821&daddr=Duke%27s+Pass%2FA821&hl=en&sll=56.182063,-4.375992&sspn=0.053024,0.169086&geocode=FQw_WQMdbhy9_w%3BFcT1WQMd2Ka8_w&oq=brig&mra=dme&mrsp=0&sz=13&t=m&z=13) 92 changes of direction in 5 miles, yes its a little rough and there are patches of gravel, but I love it.

The Kinlochleven Loop (https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?saddr=B863&daddr=Kinlochleven+to:B863&hl=en&sll=56.691688,-5.126495&sspn=0.052318,0.169086&geocode=FezkYAMdhhGy_w%3BFblfYQMdEEK0_ymb90KTEC6JS DGEF3qe6tWDEQ%3BFe8VYQMdivKw_w&oq=glenco&mra=ls&t=m&z=12) There is a reason for me picking The MacDonald Hotel for this years GM

The A87 (http://goo.gl/maps/JEN3l) nearly 50 miles of biking bliss

Dukes Pass- awesome road but slightly unnerving coming round a bend and being faced with a coach :smt104

As of last weekend, my new favourite road is the A396 between Tiverton and Minehead. Cracking bit of relentless twistiness. The only down-side is that one end of it is in Minehead!

Tagging on to that road was this ride I did last year:

My all time favourite, not because it's the best in its own right but because it leads to some of the best roads in the UK http://goo.gl/maps/JrITn . I just feel so good when I ride this road I know I'm in for a great day:).

Again not the best road known to man but the ride there and back with a few detours along the way (Megget-Talla-Beeftub-Moffat-St Marys) make it a joy of a day. http://goo.gl/maps/V8hP2

Third choice http://goo.gl/maps/lYFSk The Hartside, you can spend the whole day here and on the adjacent roads.

Note to Carelesschucca and Bibio, I just LOVE the roads you both posted BUT am bitterly disappointed you didn't surprise me with something new to ride.

What a great thread btw, I'm looking forward to some crackers.

How about coming up for the GM and the Applecross add-on? You'll get the roads and the laughs in the evening. It'll be a good four days of biking fun.

My 3 are -
1. Glengarry to Kyle of Lochalsh:smt038
2. Ullapool to Durness to John o' Groats:smt049
3. Elvanfoot to Girvan, via Newton Stewart:smt081

1 & 3 already on here, but Ullapool up to Durness is a beautiful road, well surfaced and soooo nice to ride.

We are so spoiled in Scotland, sorry rest of UK that we have way more than our fair share of the best roads. :smt102

The Essex massive will know this road. The B1010 into Burnham on Crouch. Its perfect if you can get a good clean run with no cars.

I live on the N.E. border of Wales/England so all my favourites are in Wales.

1. Bylchau to Llanrwst - This is a fantastic road that connects Bylchau to Llanwrst via Llansannan. Generally a good surface, very few police or cameras, beautiful scenery and never ending twists and turns with a few short straights. One reason I like this one so much is because it's a lot of fun to ride without smashing the speed limit.

2. Betws-y-Coed to Maentwrog - Fast, sweeping corners and amazing scenery. Lower police presence than many other parts of N. Wales. Great road surface throughout.

3. Ffestiniog to the A4212 - Open moorland, great visibility, great surface and thoroughly interesting corners. Nowhere is it fast and roadside grazing sheep are a definite hazard. This is another stretch that doesn't require higher speeds to make it fun.

Others worthy of mention are:

The A5104 - This is a cracking stretch of road that sadly has seen several nasty (fatal) accidents this year. Has lots of interesting corners and some high speed sections. Can get very busy at weekends and often patrolled by plod and their mobile cameras.

Bala to Trawfynydd, one of the best in N. Wales but is well patrolled and demands that the speed limit is broken to make it truly enjoyable. I don't use it too much despite the gorgeous scenery because its just not that much fun at the national speed limit. Taken at full tilt at 5am on an R1 would be good!

One with no pot holes on it, or diesel spills, or gravel, or wet leaves, or caravans :-)

But some of of favs so far, in my relatively short biking career, are the A702 Dalveen Pass

A83 from Inveraray then A816 to Oban.

Oh and that road that Bibs took us along in Kielder where i got lost :-)

Still to do the A87 :-(

Ah my boy you have never lived. 45ish miles of generally quiet flowing roads with some of the best views in the whole of the UK.

You need to get away for a weekend and ride it, and some of the roads near it.

I don't have one favorite.

But I do go more than twice the commute distance to work via the Ardleigh reservoir on dry sunny morning.

Some fantastic ones around Stamford area, like going on the backroads to bourne, then on the A151 to colsterworth. Or towards peterborough via Ufford and Marhlom, bit technical at times but a good ride out.
Then theres always the classic Wansford bends and the fantastic Lower/Upper Benifield bends!
