It's been so hot lately for many of us (kiss of death - it will hammer it down now until November, you see) so let's have a cooling subject this month. Be it river or sea, lake or puddle, we're all within reasonable reach of some water and there is bound to be something on it at this time of the year. Human, vessel, animal, flotsam, whatever - gives us all plenty of scope.
As always, a few to get us started.

Taken Nov last year. Thought my phone was food! May change as I am off to the Lake District in a few days.

I've cheated a little this month. This was taken at Victoria Harbour in BC Canada in May.

They are real houses on the water that are floating...

I was by the Thames today at the Royal Naval College for the Meantime Brewery Brewfest. It hosed it down all day and I don't even drink beer. This area can be beautiful, today it was utterly damp grey and uninspiring.

Please can you disregard the picture above, I didn't think I would have anything to enter this month and then remembered taking this one At Colchester Zoo, it's a sea lion and they swim on the surface showing off to visitors while you can walk underneath their tank via a glass tunnel. It's a shame the perspex is so scratched, I guess I could clone that out in Photoshop but no time on this occasion so you get it as I took it.
So this is my entry this month.

Richie takes my vote for this month as it is the shot I'd have taken had I have got off my butt. I'd likely not have executed it half so well though. Nicely done!
Podium places to DaddyJob and Ch00 as I'm a sucker for sunsets and I love the colours in Ch00's
Some cracking entries this month!
thelens please, shawthing and choo run a close second.
Cheers all for a lovely set this this month

Such a difficult choice this month.
1st place to Richie. Such a well composed shot with just enough DoF so the background is not too soft.
Podiums to thelens (really like the mist and the gulls in flight) and Bluepete (nice popping colour and use of reflection).

Yes, lots of good ones this month with 3 pics vying for my vote.
My take on it...
Liked Shawthing's pic but felt the masts and wires clashed with the background so that area wasn't pleasing on my eye (and once I was aware of it, I couldn't see anything else - sorry!)
Loved Pete's lilies
Loved BM's floating yurt (?)
So my vote is for Thelens. Seems like a classically good photo to me (not that I know anything about photography).

Thelens 1st, with Pete a very close second.
Thelens for me with Shawthing in a very close 2nd.
Super month

Bluepete for me. Hit the subject straight on.
2nd Thelens pic felt lacking life and a bit oppressive, but that's probably my claustrophobia.

Well done, keep up the good work!
Post a new thread with your theme in the title, then a few of your own examples of that theme to illustrate it.
Pete ;)

Just create a new suitably titled thread in the photo section with the new thread button just to the right above the thread list. Hope that makes some sense, instructions only seem to make sense if you already have the assumed knowledge though :-)
Ah, BP beat me to it ;-)
