Fake gear warning

Hey folks,

I have not watched it, but the show seems to be talking about "fake" biker gear that is coming into the UK. If anyone is interested enough to watch it, let me know what it was like. I am suspecting that it will be a load of well meaning BBC types wanting us to wear fluro gear and put our backless leather chaps in the bin. Anyway, have a look if you are interested.

Doesn't matter if its Gucci, Prada, Timberland, Uug boots or fake top end biking gear.

In summary, cheap counterfeit leathers being sold online. Half the abrasive resistance of minimum standard.

To be identified by being very lightweight, thin leather and crap stitching.

you spend your money you takes your chance. biggest problem is people dont want to spend the cash on proper gear so look for bargains. like the TV show sort of says, if it aint thick and heavy leather it aint worth shizz.

I've been noticing more and more rather sketchy motorcycle clothing at bike shows. I'm surprised that show organisers aren't doing much about it.

For example, I bought some Richa leather gloves from the big Peterborough show the other month but after a few months of use, they're starting to look rather haggard. Turns out they aren't completely leather. Wish I could remember the name of the company I bought them from, I'm sure trading standards wouldn't mind having a word with them.

Plenty of fake stuff around in bike clothing stalls wether its at race meetings or exhibitions. Its very well organised as its the smallish companies that get ripped off who havent got the resources to pursue.

My leathers broke the coat hook at work, I hung them up and 5 minutes later the whole rack came off the wall. But they are Hideout!

The shows increasingly seem to sell cheap rubbish, and with more and more physical shops such as HG going out of business this will only leave shows and online stores, both of which could be selling fakes to those who aren't that savvy. If you're new to biking you might not even realise just how heavy proper leathers really are, especially compared to say my leather fashion jacket from Top Shop. Also leather, but I would not wear it on a bike!

I found out the hard way.
I bought a pair of supposed to be brand name gloves on line a couple of years ago because of the unbelievable price.
They were fakes and so thin it's scary.
The pair of them might weigh half of what one of my regular gloves weighs.
Not sure they would be thick enough even for push bike use.
Non- returnable (of course) so I still have them.
Anyone looking for a set of gloves that look really good in pictures?
Black with lovely gold (and probably also fake) Kevlar stitching.

I knowingly bought a "fake" leather jacket in Spain. It looks good and I got a great deal.

Took out the "armour" and use it to go down the pub. Would I have ever considered riding in it. NFC.
