Howdy guys and gals.
I suppose I'd better introduce myself as I may be inflicting myself on you all a bit more from now on :) I'm a long time member here but I've finally managed to get my grubby hands on a SV after nearly 2 years of looking at wrecks and stuff that would have stretched the budget a bit much.

The bike's a 2000 in Saturn Black with 23k on it. Full Micron race system (from what I've discovered after buying it) with a high level pipe, rear seat cover, hugger, full Goodridge hoses, Ermax undertray and full colour matched lowers, although the right lower does need a respray.

I've finally sorted it to my taste, all the rust has gone and a shed load of stainless has gone onto it. I had to paint the wheels silver as the dark grey against the black was a bit too much for me. Everything has been cleaned, regreased, copperslipped, flushed and refilled. Long and boring work but so much better now.

I intend to do trackdays on it instead of possibly wrecking my immaculate 05 Bandit.

That said though, I am finding it hard "feeling the love". After 3 years of a screaming IL4 I find the lethargic way the power is delivered a bit underwhelming. I'm used to dancing on the gear stick and keeping the engine buzzing. Maybe it will just take a bit if getting used to but after enjoying the ride on my nephews bike, nearly 200 miles isn't making me feel any better about mine :(
I'm hoping the love will come in the end as I looked long and hard before buying

Anyway it's nice to finally say hello to you all instead of lurking :D

Cheers

Ian

Welcome to the Forum :) The SV has a habit of growing you :)

Welcome to the forum, you'll get used to the difference between the bikes the SV will be the better track bike once you get it sorted, its got less power but it not a big old girl like the bandit.

First thing to do is upgrade the suspension it transforms the SV and get it to Oulton Park... YIPPIEE!

Enjoy!

Hello, love that little SV and cuddle it in bed at night, they give better hugs than bandits.

Many thanks for the welcome.

I'm hoping the SV will grow on me. I did a few more miles on it today and I am finally getting used to nearly going over the handlebars after chopping the throttle :smt107 but the sound of rumbling thunder on the overrun is gorgeous

it not a big old girl like the bandit

Enjoy!
Aint that the truth, I couldn't believe just how light the SV is compared to the Bandit, it's almost like pushing a pushbike around. It's just a shame it's got my lardy ares strapped to it

Now then!

Are you the guy I see every morning going down Kings Drive / Lee Hall Road? I'm the guy draggin' the kids to nursery and gives you the nod on the black pointy ;-)

Typing skills are terrible on my mobile :p. No, I either see him while I'm walking the kids to nursery, or give him a nod when I'm on my pointy on my way to work :thumleft:

Not me unfortunately matey. My mornings involve the shenanigans of Mather Ave, Allerton Rd then Smithdown.

I'll keep a lookout for you tho as your not really that far from me, just over Woolton Hill, and if I see you I'll give you and obvious wave (cue me waving manickly at strangers on any black bike now lol )

Ha ha, no problem. I wonder who it is I keep seeing then. Yeah done that trip down Ally Road, Smithdown myself. Not one I'd like to do on a daily basis though!

The only thing worse would be a route that involved the Five Ways
