View Full Version : How seriously do you take your hair?

Just wondering as I've been and had mine cut today. I've shocked everyone at work as it is the second time I've had it cut this year. :takeabow: Usually works out every 9-10 months for a shearing but this was getting annoying already.

I clipper it when it starts getting messed up by the lid.

I get mine shorn by Mrs BP whenever she decides it needs it. Short for work so it can't get pulled. I learned THAT lesson very quickly!
Pete ;)
I don't have any. In the days when I did, I would go to the barbers once a month.
I fully surrendered to male pattern baldness about 15 years ago and bought a set of clippers to do it myself. I probably do it every 3 weeks or so.
I've got waterproof clippers I can use in the shower which means no hoovering required afterwards.
Some people worry about being baldy but I don't think I would have my hair back TBH.

Mine gets dyed when it needs it, the colour varies from black to purple depending on my mood when I buy the dye. I had it trimmed lovely while away and like a central parting with bangs that I can tie back in to a pony when I am working on the bike or riding.
However, I try not to brush it too much because with my age now it is not as thick or as strong as it was in my twenties. If it gets too too unmanageable I will get it cut into a bob and make do with that. Being of the Goth persuasion means that at the moment my hair is long and hangs almost to my waist when down.
I am due to dye it again and just have to find the time when I feel up to the wife doing it for me. Onec my hair has been done I will also wax my eye brows and shape them to thin arches of vampyric evilness.
I shaved it all off once when I went through a really butch phase in my life, that was just after bleaching the whole lot white and dying it bright pink! At that time it was down to my bum and when people saw me afterwards, they assumed I had a terminal disease!
I could not date a girl with short hair, I like the wife's hair which is long down her back and also dyed, but more red than purple. I also shape her eye brows, but she hates the pain and threatens to thump me if it hurts too much!

No #1 every month. Still feels long when freshly mowed.
My eyebrows grow quicker than my head. and as for the hair on my arse?????

I usually keep mine short at the back and sides. The front keeps itself short unfortunately.

Without washing it each morning with shampoo and conditioner, then applying serum, carefully blow drying, spraying in heat defence gunk then using a £200 pair of straighteners I'd look like this every day
http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/09/02/ed8189e3821d5971692d8f1dce9ff46f.jpg
I have it cut (and de-gingered if needed) every 7 weeks at a hairdresser an hour's drive away because it's a friend who owns the salon, she's very good and it only costs me £45 mates rates, Tony & Guy or similar would be £150 or more.
Some days it is tempting just to do a Britney.

Am I truly alone in thinking that Redheads are beautiful? Mind you I dye the wife's hair red, so I get to enjoy it. Her natural hair colour (if we ignore the grey, she is 49 on saturday!) is a medium brown and her hair is so fine that it is like spider silk. It is beautiful for a couple of days after being washed, but it soon gets full of engine oil, bits of motorbike and owl stuff! Sadly she gets eczema if we wash her hair too often and we have to use really gentle stuff when we do.

With your beautiful wavy locks, you should be washing your hair in a mountain stream and then flicking it about the place like a tart. ;-)

I would go bald if I could. We have evolved past the need for hair, if my head is cold I wear a Tea Cosy.
But for now I keep it short, as short as I can without a razor. I get it cut every couple of weeks. I've had the same hair style for many, many years now. Though I question the word style.

Mine is still red, the ends go a bit light in the sun so I just get them darkened down so the colour looks even. It is naturally the colour of a baby orangutan's bum fluff!

I had long hair as a teen and decided last month to grow it again. I'm not precious about my mop but need to keep it neat for work. I'll probably get more comments as it gets to the in between stage but I couldn't give a stuff what's said. I cut my hair short after listening to my classmates at school saying it looked awful only to be met with a chorus of 'why did you cut it all off, it looked great really' so when it gets long this time, anyone moaning at me can go poke it.
Having dreadlocks down to my bum has pros and cons.
Pros: less daily maintenance, fairly unusual, zero brushing, pretty much the same after wearing a lid as before, still gets washed (when I feel like it)
Cons: can get in the way, can get sat on, zero brushing, weighs a ton when wet
They'll probably have to go at some point but...not yet!

My mum cuts my hair when I can be bothered. It's so fine, one or two snips and it's done.
I went to the hairdressers a few months ago with the kids for their haircut, and they charged me a tenner for attempting to cut mine, which was the worst cut ever.
My eldests godmother is a hairdresser. Over the years I've had alsorts of things done, for the cost of the stuff to do it. I've also learnt how to do extensions, streaks and dyes.
I dye my hair every four weeks at the roots, it takes five minutes to slap on as a hairdresser would do it. I could and have done in the past, done my own streak foils in pink.
I have to wash my hair every day, as I have extremely greasy hair. That, with fine hair is horrid.
Pegasus gets a buzz cut from me when his bald bits start feeling crowded.

at £10 for a womans hair I'm not surprised.
Mine usually comes in at £8-9 but any idiot can use clippers and dash through it in 10-15mins.

It wasn't at a barbers!!
It was at a hairdressers. I asked them for a trim, literally the inch on the ends, a three snip job that I can do on somebody else. They cut a layer in and made my hair appear thinner on the ends than it did before! I'd have been better sticking my head upside down and doing it myself!
They charged a tenner because the boys were having their hair cut too. Styled rather than hacked off. I always take them there, as they do a very good job on the youngest. The eldest, they could sell his hair to men with solar panels

For all of you chaps who are lamenting the loss of your hair, there is a cure while it is still thinning. However if it is totally gone, there is no hope for you I am afraid.
The cure (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castration) though does have some minor side effects, but will allow those of you worried that you may get hair loss keep your fine locks. Good luck... :smt084

I second this - In my 20's I had a 6" quiff with the back, sides and top No.1 Looking from the top, My hair was the shape of a horseshoe, with the front 6" high then tapering back to 1/2" at the back. Drove around in a 1959 Hillman Minx (In the 90's) looking a right rocker/rockabilly/punk type character, LoL.
Now No.1 all over !!! So yes I believe your theory is correct.
My dad had a great head of hair up to the day he died.
So as mum's not slap head it's got to be a good theory.
Good call J F.

Never really been that bothered. Used to have it short back and sides, trimmed on top.
Then this little bit on the back started to get very very thin and I refused to try and hide it, comb over or anything else so I went straight for a grade 1.
Started cutting it myself but got fed up of cleaning up clippings so now I get it clipped at a barbers. Problem is that with it being that short it needs cutting every 2-3 weeks or it just looks fluffy (except from the bit at the top).

It is a sad fact of life that as we age, gravity has the same effect on men's hair as it does on women's bosoms and buttocks. It all heads south. You lose it from the top of your head and it starts sprouting out of your ears and nostrils.

Yep certainly breezy!
I've had it all shaved off before as a kid and forgot how odd it feels in the shower.
