Just finished touring my curvy 3000 miles around the UK for charity in under 7 days.

She never missed a beat apart from an electrical short that was easily rectified.

Anyhoo. Stepped foot into the garage today to find quiet a bit of engine oil pn the floor. Ive noticed the oil coming from a bolt on the lower of the RH bottom engine side case. Does this mean the gasket is knackered? And where can i get a new one for that side only? Ive only found complete gasket kits for sale online

Cheers

Jack

Do you mean the clutch cover? The plastic panel that has the water pump attached to it.
If yes then is quite common apparently, they warp but can be recovered.

I had this problem on mine, remove the clutch cover, clean up both mating surfaces and the rubber seal, refit the cover using the specified torque. Mines not leaked a drop since it was done 3 years ago.

If this doesn't work, then the cover is warped & you'll need a new one.

But that's worst case scenario

The leak is coming from a bolt near to the oil sight glass window. Is that the clutch cover? Im guessing to take it off i need to drain the oil to clean up the mating surfaces and re fit it?

Also where can i get the right replacement parts of that doesnt work?

Tricky to buy one 2nd hand, as that may leak too.

Yes, that's the clutch cover. You can take it off without draining oil if the bikes on the side stand.

Yes you will and whatever you do use the correct torque, if you over tighten it will leak again.

Loosened off all the hex screws and re tightened in a diagonal sequence. Still leaking. The leak is deffinately coming from a screw on the casing that the sight glass window is on. Does this mean i need a new gasket? Trying to solve this issue as quickly and cheaply as i can. But if crunch comes to crunch ill just replace it if need be.

Should also add that it only leaks when stood on the paddock stand. Doesnt show any evidence of leaking when its running either

Folks are thinking this is the plastic clutch cover, which is the usual problem. From what you're saying the leak is coming from the metal engine cover?

Just make sure that's the actual problem and not just the place where the oil is collecting. Oil leaks can be a bit of a bugger. It's worthwhile cleaning up the area, getting it very dry, then putting a layer of talc down all over the cases. Then you can track the oil run as it develops.

If it is the engine case you'll be able to get a single gasket from a Suzuki dealer for £15. Part No 11482-19F00.

Are all the hoses connected to the air box in place & not perished?

Seem to remember that causing someone some grief before

it was me, crankcase breather hose had become disconnected and was spraying oil under the tank then leaking down on the left engine cover (Stator side) This sounds like a gasket issue though...

From memory the right side case has a bolt or two with seal washers under their heads - or am I thinking of a different engine?
