So anyone recommend me a place in Hampshire to get some panels sprayed. Just the one colour at the moment.

scoobs used some guy in fareham with good results, can't remember the guys name. Message him.
I'm in Portsmouth, I think it was A and M in Fareham, who I've already emailed, wasn't sure if their was anyone else.

checked back through some old messages when he used to be cool. Blitz body shop.
Cheers, having a look now.
Blitz gave me a quote of 400, no idea if that's cheap or not so I'm going to keep having a look about.
I wonder if I could get all the spray kit and do it myself???

I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself, it is v easy to **** up!

I do my own but I'm currently without a workshop so I'm no help. I did a 3 stage pearlescent on a panel off the thunderace just in the garden with good results. Over spray went everywhere though!
I've loads of spare panels to practice on, and I've notice Lidl are selling everything I need on Thursday. So I'm going to give it a go. Just do one at a time and as I'm just doing one flat colour it shouldn't be to much of a risk to feck up.

I guess, just keep the pressure as low as you can get away with to minimise overspray. You gonna use cellulose or 2 pack?
I'll speak to my wife about what to use, as she's had some experience with spraying before. I'm not sure what the pros and cons are between them. I'm a more than capable artist, but spraying is something completely new to me as most of my work has either been pencil/pen or digital drawing.

Cellulose - quicker drying, less overspray but not as good a finish as 2 pack.

Would you really notice on a white bike?

No cellulose would be fine. White is a flat colour so it also has the benefit of hiding imperfections, use 2k clear coat and the finish will be good. The darker the colour the more easily you can spot imperfections.
It's all bad for you but 2k is really bad for you, so you'll need a respirator capable of handling spraying.

Depends how fussy you are I guess, but as said you can mask most imperfections with white.
Jax has had some spray training, so she'll be my guide in most of this. I've got the compressor and tools now. Just need to get the mask R95 or P95 seems to be the recommended filter.

Good luck with it, remember preparation is key. :-D
Best by some wet-n-dry too.

Get all your paint and shizzle from a proper paint shop, don't use halfrauds as you'll get mugged. If your doing white just use a base coat white, base coat is pretty much universal so if in future you need more there's no need to colour match. Plus it's cheap.
Mines base coat white, I was going to do a pearlescent but I changed my mind after I put the base coat on and I thought it might turn out ghey. I did a tester piece a few months after as I was bored and it really did look ghey, totally ghey.

I use an air fed mask these days. but have in the past had very funny effects from spraying and a lesson learned.
Back in the tail end of the 70s I was in the booth at home with my dad, but spraying some walnut wardrobes we had build with a seal. We had heard back then of solvent abuse. but associated that with spotty kids and a bag of glue. When I saw the spray job my dad was doing I took over and could do little better. My dad having working in body shops for 30 years and I brought up in them.
We learned that day a valuable lesson that the stuff coming out of the gun, even though you have no intent of breathing it. Gets in there, especially when atomised.
2K can be killer. Take care.

Yep as above not just breathing it in either, it can get into the system through the tear ducts too. Try and use a full face airfed mask. Also if you're gonna use a Base coat with clear lacquer I recommend you use water based Base coat if you can, very little chance of a reaction with underlying paint.

I'm fairly sure I read before that 2k has cyanide in it.

thought so, one of my dad's mates does it with a paper mask. He's very old school though and claims "if it killed people I'd have died a long time ago". I
wouldn't recommend it.
I have air fed respirators at work and at home.

I know it's mad. He used to run the paint booths for Austin when they were still about. He must be about 70 now and he's just started riding motorbikes again.

Ghey you say... nice! But yes I'll get all my stuff from the paint place, but did you mean the wet-n-dry too? I was thinking maybe go water based.

Any automotive paint suppliers, don't know any places down your way sorry.

Nah that's okay, as long as I can get it all from the auto chaps.

I use autopaint in lowford/bursledon but that's a bit of a trek for you. As I live on the correct side of Hampshire I don't know of any down your way.
Halfwits aren't too bad on the price of wet and dry TBF.
Jax knows of a place locally that we can get the paints from so we should be all good.
