This used to be one of the most beautiful bikes I've ever seen.

Then the plonker crashed.

well young man years ago if you broke your back then the chances were you ended up in a wheel chair, now with modern surgery and a better understanding a lot of the time it can be fixed.

i hope it turns out it can be fixed.

With any luck the spinal cord is undamaged and he just cracked the bone a bit.

i hope so.

we all know the risks but we still do what we do because we enjoy it, some you win some you loose. i have seen my fair share of friends and family in hospital and coffins due to bike crashes but if you were to say to them your going to die next week because you will get T boned by a car they would just shrug their shoulders and carry on regardless.

Mate if mine broke his back skiing.

6 months in a body cast and he was fine... Bet it'll ache when he gets older mind.

I hope that your friend is OK and the break in his spine is not too serious. May he heal fast and well.

Owner of bike is ok. He's still in hospital but they had him up and walking today. Had an MRI this afternoon to check rest of back out.

For those of you who dont wear decent back protectors, this is proof they work. Hospital are adamant that his kit saved him from far worse damage.

And yes, that bike WAS absolutely gorgeous.......

How did he crash, did he tell you?

Don't know the full details. Sounds like he departed company from the bike and went into the barrier on the outside of the corner, the bike then smacked him in the back and carried on over the barrier.

Says he wasn't pushing it. Police put a big trail of dust round the corner afterwards. Don't know if that was for fluids from his bike or if there was already something down there.

Hit oil and tucked the front.

And some damage pics.
