I was coming back along the M4 last night, one of the faster cars in the outside lane, but not hooning it. I get a flash from a car behind which has the blues and two in the headlights. Initially think "burger, how long as that been there, how fast am I going?" move into a gap in the middle lane to see a silver transit connect with no markings absolutely nailing it (100+) go straight past. It didn't seem to pull anyone over, and didn't get off at the junction either.

Has anyone seen an unmarked transit connect, or was this someone being a cheeky sod? It was certainly a more effective way of getting people to move over then climbing into their boot.

HM customs?

Nope, they don't use blue lights

I love my Connect! After years of racing around in fast cars, sliding about the place in a narrow tyred commercial van is hilarious!

I can't chase anything in it, most police forces have a "no pursuits in vans" policy. That removes a lot of stress, chasing is fun, but ultimately, dangerous.

Technically, I'm even limited to 50mph most of the time.

As for the one you saw, I've no idea. GMP have no unliveried Connects

Pete ;)

Yep. I've seen them a few times down the docks when there's been thefts.

Nope, no Customs officers down the docks these days, its Border Force now.

Theft wouldn't be dealt with by Customs (or Border Force), that's a Police matter, unless it involved breach of a container of high tax goods. They might turn up just out of interest.

We're the only country in the world that I know, that doesn't have Customs at the Border.

Its possible that HMRC might have some vehicles equipped with blue lights, but probably not a transit.

Nope, definitely not limited.

Were the fast cars for work, or you just having a laugh?

I did say "technically". Policy says "speed limit plus 20mph" in most situations. I can drive as fast as I decide because of my training.

I was a traffic cop in a past life.

I'd say immigration, but raid vans are liveried light blue and dark blue.
SOCA possibly but they are almost impossible to spot

Connects are an absolute hoot to drive fast. Did some dicking around in them a good few years ago, surprising easy to drift too

Answer 1: No. Smooth and progressive. Plus, I can't hear screams.
Answer 2: very, very fast. 'Cos we all know they're uprated, upgraded and special. Yeah.... okay. ..

Also depends on the number of pandas in a panda car!

Yes I have seen a white unmarked Transit Connect on a blue light run in that Force area.

I have seen a number of interesting unmarked cars in the last few years. One of the most surprising was a black unmarked Astra... Convertible.

Going back a few years, and I mean a good few years, we had an old 3.0 V6 Ford Transit on the nick. It was supposed to just be used for moving bulky exhibits around so had been completely cleared out except for the front seats. This made it very light, and quite nippy. My claim to fame was a 10 minute plus pursuit in it, chasing a 924 Porsche of all things (OK, so the driver was a: pathetic and b: drunk...) but I eventually pinned it up against a wall much to the radio operators surprise..... Those big old front bumpers didn't mark up easily either!

I stand corrected (said the main in orthopaedic shoes). Though I do know its not unheard of for slightly less scrupulous individuals to put blues flashers on their vehicles in order to affect a quicker journey time.
