After 2 good half days out n about in the glorious 'late summer', my lid/visor was a bloody fly splattered mess.
As I've took to cleaning my windows with white vinegar with top results, I sprayed my visor near the pivot, soft cloth/warm soapy water......easiest 'wipe clean ever. Repeated near the front vents on chin piece with no adverse effect!!! Visor spotless in seconds, as was the rest of the helmet.....one matt black Caberg Duke like brand new!!!!
(50/50 white vinegar/water in a spray bottle)

Good to know, I normally just place wet kitchen towel over it for a bit to get the dried stuff to make easily then give it a wipe with a soapy sponge

not a good idea. i think with prolonged use it would craze the lacquer. vinegar is an acid and at 50/50 i would say its way to strong 10/90 with a few drops of washy would be better.

Pledge works excellent on visors as well as leathers for removing bugs and won't harm either.

After cleaning my visor and helmet with warm water and a tiny bit of soap I use Mr Sheen (probably the same as Pledge) and it works well. It seems a light coat of silicone based polish helps rain bead off and bug guts don't stick on quite as easily. Definitely wouldn't buy expensive visor / helmet cleaning products, I think they're a waste of money.

Yep :)

I wonder if some added to some soapy water in my little spray bottle would give me a cleaner and water repellent in one....

just thinking, i use a product called bobby dazzler from fenwicks which is like that demon shine stuff but much better and a looooot cheeper. the water just sheets off once applied and bugs seem to come off a lot easier. might start giving that a go.

I've a wash and repellant spray. But it's not as long lasting.
