Anyone good with electronics? Panasonic stereo

We have a Panasonic home stereo but the remote has stopped working. Not sure if the IR sensor has packed up but the remote seems to be transmitting (it flashes if you hold it against a digital camera) Any ideas?

is there additional buttons on the side of the remote?

is the remote a type of multi remote that can control various Panny products?

the usual culprit is that the remote has been switched to AUX or some other function.

Not that I can see. Its a Panasonic sa-ak520, not the newest around but still good. It just stopped working one day.

you sure it's the remote not the receiver?

Fully charged batts. Not sure what can be done if the IR has failed. Have emailed Panasonic support
