A colleague has asked for suggestions for a birthday gift for her biker friend. She's got a budget of £40 and needs to buy it this week.

I was thinking a couple of books perhaps, but if anyone can come up with something better then post up your inspiration.

A friend got me Biker's Britain. I'd recommend it. Not done any of their routes yet but checking the areas I know they've certainly covered a lot of the good roads. I've little doubt it's full of 'hidden' gems (the type of roads all the local bikers know) in the rest of the UK.

Books are great, a gift that never stops giving. Have a think about these.

Jupiter's travels (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Jupiters-Travels-Ted-Simon/dp/0140054103/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1413305174&sr=1-1&keywords=jupiters+travels)

A bikers biography (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hells-Angel-Barger-Angels-Motorcycle/dp/1841153362/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1413305327&sr=1-1&keywords=sonny+barger)

Another biography (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Satans-Choice-Biker-Hells-Angels/dp/0283071753/ref=sr_1_63?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1413305634&sr=1-63&keywords=biker+books).

There is also an awful lot of biker erotica on Amazon, but it is all so hetro-centric. :smt077

Check if your local karting track does pit bikes or mini moto. Its fun, painful, and addictive.

I've got that adventure book sat on my shelf at the moment. Had a quick flick through it but its not what I was expecting. May have to have another look at it. Wouldn't mind getting the second one though.

Er, this is a colleague buying for a friend who takes his wife pillion. Not sure that would go down too well with the Mrs.

That gift was coming with big consequinces from the start. ;)
So if they're not going to be good ones then perhaps I'd go with the Bikers Britain book.
Org recomended and who doesn't like to find new roads?

Or maybe the Jupiter's Travels Jayne mentioned.
Arguably the best motorcycle book ever written.
Certainly a classic and maybe a bit different than one might expect.
Excellent read for those long winter days.

Would depend on the person as to which one.

Just bought the AA/Simon Weir book for myself. Great read so far.

If you are considering a motorcycle adventure type book then look at the Lois Pryce series. You don't even need to be into bikes to enjoy them.
