OMO

I went to do an oil change on the Focus and found that the sump bolt had been tightened up by Hercules at the garage on its previous service.
It only takes a 13mm socket and should only be 35ftlbs but unfortunately has now rounded to fook.

I had another go today with mole grips to no avail, tried to file some flats but not enough room.
It looks like the only option is to weld a new nut/socket to it.
I'm in Ruislip, does anyone in the area have the the required welding equipment/skills to help. Will obviously recompense you for your efforts.

Cheers

Pipe grips - the usual solution.

Yep as Sid says you want to use a pipe wrench/stilsons

The problem is, the bolts in a bit of a recess and not easy to get any grips on.

All ideas are obviously welcome.

You could try a Gator Grip socket. I have not used one but may sort the problem.

Or maybe this set? Again, not something I have used myself but the reviews sound promising;

Those bolt removers are great - worth their weight in gold.

If there's another flat on the bottom, leave it.
Then drill & tap another hole on that flat and stick a bolt in there?
