Hi all,
I just wanted to post up a quick review of my RST two piece suit. I bought it ready for my direct access course and have spent probably 20 hours wearing it so far during my training sessions and tests.
I have to say I am pretty impressed with it, The stitching and the zips seem very strong and so far I haven't found any quality issues with that.
The armour (while cheap) seems to fit in the right places and I can tell it will help shield me in an impact with the road although I may upgrade the armour at a later date.
The two pockets on the outside of the jacket aren't the biggest but are good enough to fit a small phone, packet of fags & lighter etc but not much more.
There is a single inside pocket which is accessible when the thermal liner is zipped in which is more that big enough for my wallet. There are another two inside pockets but these can only be accessed when the thermal liner is removed (which is a bit of a pain).
The quality of the trousers is just as good as the jacket, the trousers come with one pocket on the left side which is big enough for a phone and a set of keys. Again the armour in the trousers is good but will probably upgraded at the same time as the jacket.
The zip to connect the two is a large toothed zip and zips from the right hip round the the left hip.
I found the sizing of these to be pretty good, I am 6ft3 and 12st... Finding normal jackets and trousers to fit me is a pain so I expected finding leathers to be even worse. I went for the size 34 trousers which fit round the waist nicely, they do come up a little high round the ankles but still well below the tops of my boots and over the tops of my socks. The jacket I went for is the 44 which is a good fit, maybe half inch longer in the arms would have been nice but one my gloves are on they overlap nicely.
All in all for someone looking for a two piece on a budget these are pretty good and I can see them lasting me a long time. For £400 for both jacket and trousers they are definitely worth considering.
If anyone has any questions that I have not answered here please response and I will do my best to answer them.
