View Full Version : Boobs - discussion

Here's a discussion topic for a rainy Friday.
Actress Keira Knightley recently posed topless for Interview Magazine on the condition that they did not Photoshop her very small breasts in post production. Previously she has had editors and designers 'boost' her not very big bust and it annoys her that they seem to think this is necessary.
Here is the topless pic, I have covered the nipples to abide by the U rating, although I realise what I have covered them with may cause greater offence!

The most obvious example of her gripe is for the film poster for King Arthur

So mighty Org, do you think if a woman is beautiful but has bee sting boobies that's good enough and they should just be appreciated for what they are, or can everything be improved by the magic of manipulation in Photoshop?

She is the shape she is, and needs no digital manipulation.

After the wife went though cancer surgery. I have to say boobs are gorgeous what ever the shape or size.
More than one is a bonus. Ladies look after them please.

I understand and can appreciate why executives photoshopped her breasts for the King Arthur photo, and I also appreciate her decision to step out what presumably is a comfort zone for her ( the privacy to her body I presume ) to make a point.
Unfortunately absolutely everything we do is because of businesses which rely on minimizing margins and maximizing profits. People complain about design decisions in videogames without considering that the developers of the videogame are a business and money comes first.
We are also genetically built to have attraction to things such as wet lips ( lipstick ) and wide hips, breasts are no different. Generations of marketing has proven it's more financially viable to appeal to the majority, which is why movie posters will continue to feature scantily clad actors.
What I do believe is important is breaking the fake image too often portrayed by social media, not everybody is going to have the face of Keira Knightly or Angelina Jolie's breasts. Too much importance is placed on celebrities, their opinion too but that's a whole different thing, which leads to kids growing up in an age with social media a forever arm's length away forever depressed because they don't have the body of a superstar.
Social acceptance should be the foremost priority in how the future generations are raised, I now hold Keira Knightly in a higher regard.
Thanks for the share.

I think you generally need to identify the target audience. There are sectors where appearance and image are more important than the individual behind and this is so true in advertising where the public rarely have the time or inclination to look to deeply. Posters, flyers and such like are all designed to capture the publics attention and nothing is more effective at that than sex is. Once you have their attention then you might be in a position deliver the rest of your message. If you don't believe me ask yourself which part of the above photos you looked at first, and what was the first difference you spotted?

As far as I am concerned, this pretty much says all that needs to be said and the humanity of saying that more than is a bonus speaks volumes about the fear and heart ache felt by those who are touched by it. I am genuinely moved by Tim's post.
Due to my own strange and unusual genes my cleavage is not exactly huge despite my height, while my sister who barely passed five feet had bangers the size of basket balls. When I met the wife she did talk about my being augmented, but I was and am happy in my skin just as I am. Anyway, if I really want to double my boob size, I just have to wait for mosquito season, then I can be like that bird from Total Recall!

Small boobs never put me off so no,I would not see any need to photoshop.Silicon jobbies are a real turn off to me as well.
These days I must admit I would not be especially choosy though.Maybe its an age thing.

It's not actually the first time Keira has showed some nip. She flashed her left one (IIRC) in the surprisingly good film the Hole back in the day.
I'm generally into big boobs but slim girls like her can be perfect without.

Like all men, I do like a nice full set of boobs but there are plenty of women I find attractive with smaller ones.
Prefer smaller to overly large saggy ones, any day.
B( o Y o )Bies are wonderful, but the woman behind them is important too. xxx

Size is mostly irrelevant. The shape is what's important.
Massive isn't good if they swing round the ankles.

Proportion, proportion, proportion.
They have to be proportional, no point having a size 8 woman with 36 DD's, it looks ridiculous.
Personally I think Keira knightly is unusually small and she would benefit from a small set of implants, deep down she knows they are bee stings and would give anything to look and feel a bit more womanly.
Littlepeahead
21-11-14, 08:19 AM
Correct Phil. As a size 8 anything more than a 32E is too much and you topple over when wearing high heels.
These tiny girls who have huge implants just look ridiculous. Somehow the size of the silicone bags seem to be in direct proportion to their IQ.

<lots of important stuff snipped>
not everybody is going to have the face of Keira Knightly or Angelina Jolie's breasts.
Yeah, somewhere there's a surgeon with Angelina's breasts - in a jar. Another brave decision, both to have the double mastectomy and be very public about it.
Unfortunately we're pre-disposed by a million years of evolution (and 50 years of marketing) to prefer women with a decent level of body fat because they're more likely to produce healthy sprogs. Not so relevant with modern medicines, but our genes haven't changed much since the days when it was really important.

Er... What?
The vacuum cleaner thing I have heard before and all I can say is at least the mess is... errrr... Swallowed! :nomore:
It cannot be very hygienic though.
Anyway, on another note. You know that you are getting old when the NHS ask you come in for a boob scan because you have reached an age when your risk of cancer suddenly jumps up a scale. Not me, but the wife is nearly ten years older than I am and the letter came through last week. She was not happy. :smt009
My offer to check her although made in good faith was declined. :smt073
So she will be clamping the girls into a photocopier style X-Ray machine at the end of the month. Thank you to our sadly neglected, but much loved NHS for keeping my girl safe.

What's the interesting part of a boob - the boob or the nipple? Maybe that's an entirely different survey.
Can't really have a boob without a nipple, but a nipple without a boob is relatively common for those "flatter" (not saying that's bad - I'm not into huge boobs!) chests.

Wife's friend first felt a lump in her breast in March but didn't go to the doc till August because she was afraid.
However in just those few months it had developed into stage 3 breast cancer. Now undergoing chemo and radiation treatment but not looking good for her. :(
No matter how uncomfortable it might be please have them checked ladies!!!

That's sad to read. A mammogram isn't pleasant, a needle biopsy is worse. But if your wife/girlfriend ever mentions a lump get her along to the doc. Most of the time it will be nothing. We get odd bumps going on but thanks to the clinic I sleep easy knowing mine are harmless. Of course in return you can offer to let her feel your dangly bits for anything unusual.

Ladies, it isn't just lumps. Lynne didn't have any. But after watching a tv article about breast cancer, she realised the change she had was "puckering" This was indicative of a tumor on the chest wall. So any changes in your boobs, Off to the docs please. and yes the biopsy isn't nice. The bruising it causes, I can only imagine the pain.

I will say this here only once, but if a male friend came to me and asked me to check a lump on their bits, I would do so out of concern and then refer them to their GP. After all, we all want our nearest and dearest to check such a thing first.
I seem to recall a stat that said male cancers were often seen in the later stages because Men either do not check often enough or do not go out of embarrassment.
So come on Guys, keep yourselves safe too.
PS, for those guys who just want a haggard old Lesbian handling their bits I am also happy to oblige and have a suitably heavy sledge hammer in the garage for just such a check! :smt081

This thread took a bit of a nose dive, boobs were good but now we're onto balls :(
Quite right though, check often and get to the GP for anything out of the ordinary...I remember getting thrush when I was at Uni and went to the doctors, there was only a female doctor on...oh the embarrassment! Still the next day it's all forgotten about and I could sit still for longer than 5 seconds :)

Being married to a GP does have some advantages I suppose...... although it's a bit of a turn off when you cuddle up on the sofa and she tells you what she's been handling all day.....

I quite often handle balls all day, just not that sort. But I'm always very wary if anyone asks if they can leave a box in my office, it could be a delivery from Amazon, or something entirely different.
