I am looking as getting the Mrs a macro lens for crimbo as she likes taking pictures of flowers and stuff.

Anyone had any recommendations? New or 2nd hand are both fine.

It needs to work with a Nikon D7100.

Cheers

Have a read of this.

He's pretty down to earth and not a technical data sheet kind of guy. Very good though.

Yeah, good straight forward reviews

I've got the Tokina 100mm prime lens he reviews here: http://www.kenrockwell.com/tokina/100mm-f28.htm

"It's optical performance is as good or better than the best from Nikon and Canon, and this Tokina's ergonomics, due to its unique focus clutch, is also better than any of Nikon's or Canon's 100mm or 105mm macro lenses.

All this, and this Tokina is less than half the price, just as well built, and smaller and lighter than any other 100mm or 105mm AF macro. Go get one!"

Cracking Macro lens for the money, no fancy USM or anything but simple good quality pictures! Very good with some support to stop any shake, otherwise you need to be using a higher shutter speed to stop any blur from shakey hands

edit: Not sure it will auto-focus on your model of Nikon, according to the review: "Won't autofocus with the cheapest D40, D40x, D60, D3000, D3100 or D5000." Not a problem on my Canon ;)
