Fantastic shot Lew. Would not look out of place in a bike mag.

Lew, that is a really nice shot. As John says, it's all about the light & you've got it spot on :)
Went out last night for the 1st time in ages. Went to see the Clone Roses, good night slightly spoilt by a not so good lead singer.

He did come up well. I'm still adjusting to Photoshop elements 14. There are more RAW options than v10, so more chances of messing up.

The image in the ball is reversed, so you have to think about turning it around afterwards. Focus on the image in the ball & take the picture :)
Purchased. I fancy a play too.

Thanks. I bought a Nikon D3200 and took a metric shiz tonne of photos, I intend to only keep the semi-decent ones.
1243 photos to be precise. Went a bit mad with my new toy.
These three were before I bought it and are from my phone.
Thinking of playing around in Photoshop and maybe upping the saturation on the third one.
Matt. Lol. Well with no processing costs why not. Better to take loads and then cherry pick the best ones.

Sometimes the eye picks up on something in a scene and you mentally block out other parts of the image, whereas the camera does not. Photography is mainly about really looking, sounds daft, but as humans we don't really study a scene.

I answer to a question from Matt earlier in the week by PM, for image ideas, sign up to a few of the photo magazines online, free, they send you a newsletter with tips and ideas regularly. Nikon may do their own version, Canon certainly do. And grab a few mags from the newsagent while you get started. Also the charity shops are often full of photography books. Great for ideas.

Matt,
Have a read of the articles on this guy's website. http://www.kenrockwell.com/index.htm
I use it as a reference point for all sorts.
Read up on the "rule of thirds" idea and when you see a great view, remember to see the periphry around the "image" you want to record. The camera will record it but your eye will ignore it.
Find the Flipboard app and read the photography section. World famous photographers post articles and ideas.
If you can afford it, get a 50mm prime lens. Removing the zoom factor makes you think of your positioning more and makes you work on composition more.
Pete ;)

Playtime! :)
Some initial Orb shots. Not entirely happy, more experimentation needed.

I like the woodgrain John - looks a bit like a marble.

It does. Made me think of Jupiter too. It's interesting how the orb bends and reflects the light.

I'm running the London Sports Writing Festival this week, and Webber was one of the speakers. Along with Stuart Broad, Phil Tufnell, David Millar, Ben Cohen, Michael Lynagh and a load of others. One of them appeared on the condition he'd receive a chocolate fudge cake so on top of all the organising, I had to bake as well!
Chris is working in the on-site shop as part of the event.

The warm weather is throwing off nature a bit. Seen some Daisys about. Going to get a shock at the weekend when the temperature drops.
while test driving the car.... as it broke down on me on Sunday.
Stopped for a photo lunch stop.
