Rumor is; he lives in a photographic vacuum, seperate from the rest of the world, where the sun always shines and there are more stunning photo opps per week than the rest of us see in a year. ;)

Ha ha! Bill, I suspect photo opps are a lot to do with a particular way of looking at the world.

And the good fortune to be in some stunning locations.....

Richie. I think you've died and gone to heaven. So many photo opportunities.

You say that but a lot of people would say they could take the same shots as David Bailey but we all know there is more to it than that - a photographer knows when to press the button, how to make it special.

It may be of course that Richie takes billions of shots and the delay between posting them is just hunting for a good one... But I doubt it. :-)

Incidentally, when I was young I told girls I was chatting up that I was a photographer. Opened up a lot of doors.

We were chilled about posting one for every day last year, it's hard to get something for every day.

Once the weather improves, then the posts will pick up, everyone is hiding indoors

Agreed. I struggle to find time to take photos.

A bit like Red Ones I have only just uploaded my pics from the weekend. Wanted to get a shot of a very picturesque windmill near here as the sun was out and it was clear blue sky, but the sails were pointing the wrong way. So went to the pretty little town of Chesham instead, as I'd been through it on the way home from work many times but never really stopped for a wander around. The pond in the park was a good excuse to muck about with the light. My cheapo plastic fantastic 50mm f1.8 is growing on me quite a lot.

Too obscure for me.

See the railings in front of the buildings on the right? There's supposed to be a footpath there.

It was a good game actually, over 2 hours of FA cup football for £15 a ticket.

Only grim part was watching wolves, who were 3-2 up until the 125th minute lose on a penalty shootout.

And Wolverhampton is hardly ap noorf, there is a large part of the country called The Midlands you know!

Much of Grant's work is of the pest control type, geese on the golf course, pigeons at sports grounds. It's hard to know what to get a 12 year old for his birthday but this worked very well.

Great pics LPH. I got off the train at Reading once last summer to have one of those skim over my head. The handler was scaring off the pigeons for the station. Fascinating to watch for a while. Got talking to the station staff and they it's all very well until it catches one and makes a mess eating it which rather irritates the more sensitive travellers.

I've just been reading about the back button focus. Apparently you can switch the focus function from shutter button to a rear button on some cameras. My 700d has a custom function for this very thing. I can now push the * button on the back to focus and the shutter button just meters and shots.

Finally a decent Sunday in January to ride the SV and perhaps try out the camera on the new phone.

121.3 mile round trip to 'Aunt Millies' a biker cafe in the nearby state of North Carolina.
It's the building with the Welcome Race Fans sign.

From the car park the American flag can be seen flying over the Post Office against a blue sky.

Fishing must really be good at this spot. I can't imagine putting a small boat in here otherwise.
The water is very deep with swift and dangerous currents and churns as if it might be boiling.

Fortunately no Black Hawk helicopters had to be downed during this day's rideout. ;)

Looks like you had a fun run. Some nice shots. The first signs of spring have appeared in my garden... Snowdrops. Won't be long before I'm out again.

Love the tour around Bill! So cool to see.
Hoping to get to the states for a trip soon ;-) not a scenery trip though but still cool.
To that end, today's picture is titled "What a difference a decade makes"

Richie, third one, top marks! Absolutely beautiful shot. The others are pretty damn good too but that one really works for me.

I've gone all smart for the new year at work, waistcoat along with the usual shirt and tie. Hair is combed now rather than mussed up and however it dries, beard is tamed too. I think I might've just become a grown up :-/

The reflections in the third picture, leaning over? or is it just my eyes. Bloody good pictures as usual though

Its a series of photo's stitched together :D

It was one of my ideas for freshening up the Photo a Day thread.

I'm completely cool with video's as well, so long as they are your own work

It's some gopro footage and a photo from today. It was faaaar too windy for the tree to be singing properly, so it was just a roar! The car temperature said it was 2 degrees Celsius, but with the wind so strong it was blowing me over, it felt like minus 100!

no, last photo noticed 1/4 way in from the left the lens had a smear on it which caused the lights over at the hotel to blur and a diagonal angle...

another lesson learned....

1) take spare batteries
2) remember the memory card
3) clean the lens before you shoot....
4) make sure you have enough parking money / change
5) try different affects, you never know what might work.
6) be nice to the police / parking warden - ref no.4 (got off from a parking ticket) :)

And the only pic I've taken today, this one. Because I couldn't quite believe this photo was used on a product in TK Maxx, it's just uncomfortably wrong.
