2003 dark blue SV650 for sale as spare or repairs with a failed engine
22K lots of service history (booked stamped) and loads of paperwork
MOT until 10th July 2015

Back in November I was riding into work and the engine failed, believe it is the bottom end bearings. When I checked there was no oil in the engine, not sure how as there are no visible leaks from the engine or puddles where I park it and the oil was changed in August. As such I am selling as spare or repairs as will need a replacement engine.

Everything was working well before the engine failure and I was riding the bike daily to work (60 mile round trip) for the past 2.5 years without an issue. Only mods are a Quill silencer and tail tidy. Tires have loads of life left as were new in the summer. Chain and Sprocket changed about 6000 miles ago. New front pads fitted at the MOT in July.

So overall the bike is in good nick for its age, apart from a crack in the front cowl and minor scratches, broken brake pedal, missing right bar end and a cracked right hand indicator all of which happened in a low speed spill quite a while back (see pics of damage below). I do have an undamaged spare cowl in blue which can be negotiated into a deal.

I am based in Bethnal Green, East London and viewing is welcome and recommended.

£600

How often did you check and top up the oil? They're notorious for breaking without any.

I did the exact same thing, 10k without a top up and boom. I replaced the engine and it's now good as new, have you considered doing this yourself? I picked up an engine for £200 and replaced it myself, I am a total novice when it comes to such things. It turns out, it's pretty easy to do.

I did check it but guess I didn't check it enough, think I got complacent riding it everyday for years without a problem.

I have considered an engine swap and have the skill to do it but don't have a driveway or garage and limited tools here. I have only been able to find engines for around 500 and always think its a bit of a risk as you don't really know what you are getting

Have you bought a new bike yet?

If not, I'm selling my curvy for £800. If you gave me £200 and your knackered pointy, it's yours.

I don't have a new bike yet, PM me some details on the curvy.

I know it's a bit too early for this, but I didn't see any offers, so I would like to kick off with £300. I know it's not much, but it's a start.

I know the rules, but it sounds like the seller must specify a price. I don't see any rule that states I'm not allowed to place an offer.

Anyway, these rules about selling are rubbish, if you ask me, but hey...

Rules are rules.

You must name a price, no auctions, this isnt ebay

YOU (the seller) must name a price, no actions... I believe the rule reffers to the fact that you must specify a price when selling. No rule saying that a possible buyer is not allowed to place an offer.

But even then, my offer stands :riding:

You offered a swap and he'd pay you 200, not exactly the same...

Still totalling £600 for his bike.
