Situation: car vibrating if speed exceeds 65 mph and knocking noise when going over bumps. Knocking developed a few weeks after the vibrating.

I noticed in the pre MOT checks a while ago that the iner cv boot had gone on the drivers side and I had slight play in the drivers side strut mount. I replaced the boot and it passed the MOT with no advisory for the strut mount. A month after the shaking starts so does the knocking so now it begins..... In the following order

Replaced both strut mounth, drivers side was wrecked with a cracked bearing. Issue continues.

Replaced both track rod ends, ball joint had gone on drivers side. Issue continues.

Replaced drivers side drive staft this evening, inner cv joint had gone. Not surprising as I'd replaced the boot prior to MOT, replaced the entire shaft just to be on the safe side. Knocking issue continues but I've not checkled for vibration.

I think there could be something up with one of the joints on the passenger side drive shaft but I can't tell if it's just end float (will jack it up at the weekend).

Anything else?

Please, no Google fu.

Have you checked the rear suspension at all?

ARB bushes ok? ARB drop links ok?

Wheels out of balance? (lost balancing weights). That would cause vibration at speed.

Anti roll bar okay?

You have checked the wheel bearings haven't you Gav?
Most knocks at the front are normally things like ball joints, suspension bushes, anti roll bar bushes, wheel bearings.
Is it power steering?
There's so many places you can get play which causes knocks.

Full tank of fuel? Could be the green connector?

I'd say either Anti Roll Bar drop links or bushes.

Quick test would be to undo the anti roll bar drop links and do a short drive over bumps.
That how I diagnosed that on my Alfa

I'll put it up on ramps at the weekend and check everything. It's not wheel bearings. I've checked everything on the drivers side as I was sure that was where the problem was seeing as everything was ****ed on that side, I replaced passenger side items at the same time just as a precaution. But I'm 95% sure it's passenger side now.

Have you removed all the body parts? They could be catching something

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Could be the inner joint of the other axle ( consistent with your symptoms) but likely you won't be able to see anything by jacking it up.

vibrating has stopped, I'm fairly sure it's just end float on the other drive shaft. Looks as though the vibrating from the duff CV joint has broken all the stuff I've replaced. So will get the pry bar out at the weekend and find out what's loose and knocking.
