Thought I'd share some images of my new steed for 2015.
Actually bought in November 2014 from an Org member, since then its been scrubbed up and had new chain, sprockets and tyres.
The carbon cans are not going to pass an MOT so I just hung one on for the pictures.
MOT time next saturday so hoping for no surprises, then we can set about it.
Firstly I'm not sure on the look of the headlight, a bit stuck out there, any suggestions on alternatives? The standard clocks are the same so I may look into something subtler.
Then a shock change would be good to match up with the front upgrades.
But for now I can't wait to get out on the roads with her and maybe I'll take it up the hill climbs in the big boys class which could be interesting!!

Looks nice that! The headlight should be able to go a lot closer than that. I think barwel had the same one and his wasn't that far out
Might be worth getting the rear cover for the speedo to protect the connector

Looks canny that and after your cracking 650 build im sure you'll put your stamp on that thou :D My little bro has just got an sv1000n, very nice and just right for an older bro to *cough* borrow ;)
Barwels build thread (http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=151525) headlight bracketry on page 20 to save you searching, i miss his org input and build threads he was good at his craft.

Ha ha its only fair!
Thank you both, Barwels headlight does look good further back so I'll look for some shorter brackets and maybe in black too.
Cheers

Update:
MOT passed today with no advisories. The carbons cans were fitted half an our later ;)
I see the subframe has taken a knock which has pushed the right pillion peg in a bit, and quite possibly the lower exhaust is bent slightly as the two cans don't look even.
Not so fussed about that but I may one day see if the redundant rear subframe from my 650 build will fit.
I even taxed it today, yes 7 days before a new month, but for 7 quid a month I just don't care!

First ride out today. Not great conditions on wet, muddy and windy roads.
But: :smt040
Its a fantastic ride, goes like a scalded cat in any of the first 4 gears (I didn't need the others yet!) and handles well for a "big" bike.
The brakes work instantly with a squeeze of one pinky which will take some getting used to from the handful I needed on the ageing CBR but I have some shortys coming which I'm more used to on the 650.
I need to adjust the pegs to be lower which should be doable with the GB rearsets so I'll get them on the lowest position and test again.
Looking forward to the spring even more! I love it!
Videos coming soon....

How does it compare to the 650? Thinking of moving up from my 650, not sure about the extra weight though

I've never ridden the 650 on the roads so it'd be difficult to compare.
However, it will depend what you want from the bike.
Inner city commuting? I wouldn't recommend it after my brief experience so far.
The Sv1000 likes to stretch its legs really, in town it feels quite lumpy and stifled, especially low down the rev range.
Although on the brand new rubber, it feels agile and I don't notice the weight until I'm man-handling it into the shed or up n down the drive. The extra weight does seem to help it hold the road well, especially on the bumpy country roads that surround me.
On the open road, it'll make you giggle like a school girl and all in all it really has a great character to it.
You know you've ridden it that's for sure!
If you want a satisfying, good all rounder for sunday scratching, eating roads for touring and maybe the odd trackday, I think it will tick all those boxes for me eventually. For the right price you wouldn't find much else to compare.
If in doubt try finding a dealer willing to let you test one.

Nice video, did you find bite marks in your saddle after that last bit?
Have fun and ride safe.

He he, to be honest maybe a little but its all part of the experience and its all good learning.

Cheers geo, not bad for a total of 20 minutes footage. Lets hope for more good stuff.
Need to try out the gyrocam again soon!

The big twin has been fettled with a bit over the last few months.
I fitted a slimline headlight assembly and have adjusted the suspension to help control the weight of the bike better when grabbing the brakes and transitioning into the corners.
Still not a mega cornering machine but the giggles on the throttle make up for it!
Had the Gyrocam out for a test a while ago:

Yep will do, although I have currently sold all my Gyrocams* including that one so I'll have to wait for my next batch!
(*Including a sale to Marc VDS for use in an upcoming Moto 2 test!)

Really impressed with your gyrocam. Where did you mount it?

Just at the back of the tank, please see here for more info on the gyrocam:

After tweaking the suspension a few times with no joy, I finally took all the front preload off and increased rebound damping front and back.
Combined with removing the steering damper I'm pleased to say I can finally throw the big bike at corners and know that it'll stick. Before it felt jerky, sometimes a strange lightness mid-corner and generally unstable for my liking.
Maybe because I learnt my riding on a 20 year old CBR which was very soft too.
Anyway, I took the SV1000 round Cadwell and removed the rear tyre chicken strips at last! Sadly though the front wheel is way out of balance which could be a bent disc, I'm still investigating!
Here's some pics from the Trackday, sadly the photographer missed my best corners!
(The exhausts are back to standard to get thru noise tests for Cadwell and for the upcoming Hillclimb at Oliver's mount. The rearsets are back to standard so I can fit my legs on it!)

Great pics. The SV 1000 is a great bike for the track and I've done nearly 40 on mine. The handling is really good on standard suspension and can be dialled in to suit anything. Here is a video taken from my mates GSXR750 at Oulton earlier this week, showing the big SV can be hustled with the supersports if you put the effort in.

Yeah Ratty, I can already see its got great potential for all kinds of riding.
I'm especially looking forward to Hill Climbing it in August. I'm 7 seconds off the overall hill record on my 650.
See how close I can get on the big bike! Probably 6 seconds ha!
