Very cute.

I'm sure we'll end up with a pup as soon as the youngest gets a little older.

The Mrs wants a small dog and tbf I like the idea of a big dog but they take a lot of looking after.

Good luck matey.

If your gentleman's sausage looks like those markings I'd be worried if I were you Andrew!

Very nice LOM. Keep the pics coming.

Adorable, gorgeous blue eyes.
I'm not allowed any more dogs. The flying wotsit thingy said so :-(

There's a charity re homing group near here just for those bundles of manic energy. They have some stunning dogs and a very high throughput unfortunately.

Poppy has made friends with Bolt, a two year old lonely lad who's girlfriend was re homed away from him.

A warning from one of the trainers though, keep a tight hold on a long training rope for absolutely ages. Many dogs get lost because they just run away and get lost!

Your pup is gorgous mind, I love his frowny eye pattern!

Pete ;)

Both my Samoyeds are fun to walk .
Often asked if they are huskies!
But then so do people with Malamute's
OK they can and do get used as draught dogs but look quite different from your pup!
Good luck with training ;)

Aye it's going to be a problem. The litter is currently housed in a cage and we have bought one for him when we are out. BUT we know we are going to have the odd expensive incident:(

You called your dog "Eight" in Japanese!

Yep I know. The breeders called him that and the wife likes it so who am I to disagree. The up side is he already responds to his name.

Nice forgive my stupidity but what breed is it?

We only bought a new cream leather three piece and carpet 18 months ago:smt010.

Yep, he had been handled for about ten minutes at this point so not happy.

This has been said at home, but my much better half declined;).

They just go to investigate a new smell and suddenly they are miles away. We hope to follow this advice closely, I don't need the to be chasing him round the woods endlessly and it's around £85 to get a dog back from our local pound (sorry shelter). He's already booked in for his second jabs, an exam and micro chip. So if we do "lose" him, hopefully we'll get him back.

Good luck with training

We know it's not going to be easy, they are bright, willful, independent animals with a high pack instinct. We are all going to use the same commands and system so we don't confuse him. Our last 5 dogs have all been adults, so I've not trained a pup in 40 years.

Garmin in the USA do a GPS tracker for dog collars, I'm not sure they're available here.

I know my sister could have used GPS trackers for her 2 Labs who used to disappear at will into the corn fields chasing rabbits & other creatures

The mutt has arrived. He was very weary for the first hour or so. Now Dog tired. He does respond to his name so we will keep it. The hard graft of training has begun.

How's he settled at night?
Are you going to get a harness on him and run him.

littleoldman2
10-02-15, 09:10 PM
Settled relatively well for his first night. He was all in by the end of the day. He slept in his cage until 2am when he whined on to be let out. Cheryl got up (bless her) let him outside for a bit then he slept till 6 when the first of the daughters hit the shower, so I had to get up. The noise he made this morning to be let out was strange, part whine, part bark and part howl, I've heard nothing like it.
He now immediately looks at you when you say his name. He's coming on OK, with come and sit commands. However this morning as soon as I picked up the treat clicker he knew straight away and followed me round, sitting without being asked ready for his treat. So I couldn't call him to me as he was already there.
Apart from house training we are just working on Come, Sit, Outside, after those it'll be Down, Stay, Off and leave.
So far no real chewing problems.:)

As for running him I'm going to look into getting a scooter for him to pull. However I'm told this may be illegal.
It all depends on whether I can exercise him sufficiently with walking as I'm not running;)

Yep that's the kind of thing I was thinking off. However when I mentioned it to a friend of the family I was assured it is illegal. I've since Google'd it and it's fairly common in the UK so perhaps he meant on the roads. Maybe a bike would be better for me as like a lot of folk I've a bike in the shed.

There's youtube video of a chap in the west country bikejoring with his two lurchers on public roads, admittedly mostly on small country lanes.

One of the girls who shows Samoyed's uses the same for her Sam and husky. They attend events in thetford forest. Its not illegal. I was thinking of getting blaze out on one his now coming up to a year and a half. The Aviemore Sled Dog Rally worth a Look up
