Hi all,

After a few years away, I'm returning to racing an SV650 again this season. I've acquired a trick supertwin that's had a healthy amount of engine work. Before the season kicks off, I'm wanting to replace the clutch.

Does anyone know the reason for the friction plate differences between the K3/4 and K5 years?

The K3 & K4 part numbers are as follows;

Steels - 21451-28C31 (6-off)
Frictions - 21441-29F10 (6-off) & 21442-29F00 (1-off)

For the K5, it's identical only the 6-off frictions are 21441-29F20.

Is anyone able to shed any light on the differences? I'm assuming it's simply down to stack height. I've tried to find some information (workshop manuals & parts fiches etc) though with little joy.

Any help would be appreciated!

Cheers,
Keith.

Never mind.

Bit of research into Barnett clutches answered my question. Turns out they're no different.

Suzuki Complete Clutch Kit- Carbon Fiber - Part# 303-70-20065
Notes: Includes 7 frictions, 6 steels, and 6 springs.

It's the same detailed from 2003 - 2009, so I'll just acquire one of their clutches instead. Works out the same price from Barnett as it would for ACU discount from Suzuki.

Ta,
Keith.

What year is your SV?

If your doing the clutch, you may want to update the gear change star IF you have a pre k5 model and it hasn't already been done.

It's a K4 chassis, but I'm not sure about the engine year.

Can this be identified from the engine number?

Just done a quick search and found the part numbers;

25381-19F10 - Shift Star
25355-35F01 - Spring
25350-35F00 - Detent Arm

I ran a K5 SV650 a few years ago and found that was a bit of a menace for jumping out of gear. It has been refreshed so there's every possibility these upgrades have already been carried out.
