Ok now I've basically sorted the GM I have been thinking about 'monthly' runs.

What are your thought's on it all? When would you guys be up for going out and where would you want to go for a first bimble of the year?

Also I'm looking into doing a GM Test run in May or June if anyone is interested in coming along (I can post details when they are worked out if anyone is interested)

Once I get my bike fixed, or buy a new one (watch this space) I will be up for runs and a GM test run I reckon. Won't be playing football this summer (2nd knee op next month) and I also no longer work Sundays :)

Now call me a bluff old traditionalist, but shouldn't the first run of the year go to Largs? Via ferry?

Yes, yes it should.

Sounds like a plan.
More runs to the south this year!!!

Or should that be to St Andrews, and involve Ice Cream.......

If you're doing monthlys and the dates are set in advance, I might just turn up for one, if Mr Ginger will put me up for a couple of nights.

Wasn't St Andrews the last run of the year?

I'll see what I can do. April is out I'd guess as I already have a big trip planned (for me :D)

Monthly runs sound good to me Dean.

I defo plan to put more miles on the blade this year. Only managed 700 miles since i bought her last April :-(

Am all booked up for the NW200 in May. Four days riding around Northern Ireland and watching the racing should be great fun. Can't wait.

Going to the Bike show on Sunday, that will probably my first run of the year on Sunday March 8th

Getting the sea-legs/snottery neb back is usually March some time innit?

How about Sunday the 29th of March for the Largs run then?

We could meet up at the Petrol Station on Great Western Road go up round the Rest and be Thankful and down to Dunoon for some ferry action and on to Largs for ICE CREAM!

I can draw up a route if needs be but do we really need it? The bikes should be able to do this route without us.

Thoughts everyone?

Providing I have a bike (that works...), and my knee works enough to let me actually get on a bike (op on Mar 13th), I will defo be along. Lot of ifs but I reckon all should be sorted by then.

We could try to get across to Otter Ferry as we failed last year because of the wee car crash.

Route? (http://goo.gl/maps/sCQxL) Stops at Pit Stop Diner, Otter Ferry, The view point at Loch Riddon & obviously ICE CREAM in Largs.

Me and the family will be in Killearn overnight on Saturday so we'll be coming mob handed in the support vehicle. Intercept/catch up at Balloch or Arrochar or Tignabruaich or Dunoon or SOMEWHERE. But definitely getting a ferry and having some ice cream. :-)

Given the old girl a damn good polish up and chamfer. Treated her to a new MoT, taxed her in the new fangled pay as you go way - £5 a month? The kids steal that from my change every week - and had a quick shakedown in the sunshine. My bike is ready in all respects for the ice cream run.

Which I am attending in my V plate Vauxhall Astra. :driving:

Oh well, suppose I can commute the 7 miles to work on Monday morning by bike instead. :riding:

Anyway, bring it on!

Hi all, sounds like you are going to have fun. I had lunch last Sunday at the Oystercatcher at Otterferry. Sun was shining, so what's not to like? I had a bike rally over that way last week-end and it felt like it was summer. Otter Ferry is named after a Gaelic name for a strip of land (or something) rather than named after Otters. You get a nice plate of soup there, though!
I went over the C11 (I can't name any other "C" class roads - obviously there are C1 through to C10, but I don't know where they are though - anybody know?). The difference between a "C" class road and a "B" class road? - more pot-holes allegedly. True in this case!
I'm afraid I can't make it tomorrow, as I have a Norton Owners run. I have been told I have been on enough of their runs now, that I qualify for Norton stickers to put over the Suzuki ones LOL. No - the GSX-R won't be tampered with any time soon (or exchanging it for a Norton, before any one asks!).
Have fun (watch out for all the crap in the middle of the single track roads. I took my eye of the ball and hit a patch of seaweed, of all things!).

sputnik
28-03-15, 06:41 PM
Weather forecast does look absolutely Shi'ite for the west/largs tomorrow. That said, the forecast here today was awful and it turned out OK...

I am up for a run tomorrow but not if its a complete monsoon (do enough of that during the week!). Is it worth redirecting up to St Andrews instead? I gather the ice cream gaff is open again and the forecast looks a bit better there?

carelesschucca
28-03-15, 07:34 PM

You have to go, just to see the line of trees that have been blown over, so that all their roots line up, south of the Otter Ferry! It's natures art!
Oh, also watch out for the wind at the Rest and Be Thankful (where that bus crashed). My magnetic map holder ended up on top of my arm cos of the wind.

carelesschucca
28-03-15, 08:48 PM
I was thinking about the wind across that section, could be interesting... I'm just happy to go with the flow though...

All in I just want to get out and test my new heated grips (I must be getting old I said I'd never get a set)

I was talking to Ron this week about a BMW, I've always had a hankering for a Boxer Cup Replica, I think they're a good looking bike (not to everyones taste).
When I test rode one years ago i thought it was a bit to big and heavy coming from the SV... But i still fancy one, but I still think the Street is the better bike... On day Malc I ay join you in having a BMW!!!

Hmm I actually had a look at some of the boxer BM's when bike shopping, quite like them with their single swing arm and all.

Is anyone actually turning up at Great Western Road? Or can I just stay in my nice warm bed and watch MotoGP later?

sputnik
29-03-15, 07:24 AM
Still not at all convinced by the forecast for the west - looks to be perma-****ing it down all day. Elsewhere just looks moderately damp! Happy to follow everyone (Dean!) else's lead as to where we go but might bale out if its really wet. Glove waterproofing isn't great and can't face the prospect of an entire day with soggy cold paws - aw, diddums!

sputnik
29-03-15, 07:42 AM

carelesschucca

Having looked at the forecast how about we change this nonsense and meet up at the sainsubrys garage in Stirling (near the old stirling bridge) and head East away from the weather
