Ah I see, I take a passenger about 100 miles a week. Think it'll stand up to wear and tear if I get em powder coated?

yes no problem.

No it won't. I had my rear subframe powdercoated and my boots rubbed through it really quick. I reckon if you put on some of those clear, plastic, protector stickers you would be ok, but it might be difficult to cover everything on pegs.

Thanks for the info. I might spray the arms but buy some third party black pegs.

paint would have rubbed off a lot quicker.

rear brake lever been coated for 20k and its still like brand new. heal guards are a bit scratched but still ok and would just need a cut.

think it depends on the quality of coat.

chipping is the problem with powder coating but plasti coat is superb for touching up.

Powder coating works best on a clean well prepared surface.

I once paid a lot of money to have a frame coated in a lovely dark stone grey. However the guy who did it, did not grit blast the frame like I paid him to do and the coating flaked off in weeks. I had it dipped, stripped and blasted before repainting and that coat is now ten years old and still looking good. :D

Powder coat is much harder wearing than spray paint, but as Jayneflakes says like all paints its prep that is important it needs to be clean, grease free and to get a good key steel should be bead/shot blasted and Aluminium should take a good dip in chromate before its coated.

I have stripped mine, prepped and sprayed with black bbq paint coz its hard wearing. Then I used a laquer to harden them up. Then I put them away because I don't carry pillions on my SV.
