View Full Version : She turning over but not fireing
Hi guys,
I desperately need your help....I got an 2000 sv650s...I was using her everyday for work until this problem started.
When I start her up, she turns over but doesn't fire anymore ....so far I've serviced her with iridium sparkies , also changed the battery but still the same problem.. Fuses have been checked , all good..
Can anyone please help ??????
if everything else is good then check the sidestand and clutch safety switches.
Don't think the curvy will turn over if the safety cut outs are faulty?
If you haven't already, I'd probably start at the basics and work from there - spark/fuel/air.
Are you getting a good reliable spark?
Are the carbs getting fuel? Is the fuel tank full of water rather than fuel? Not an uncommon problem for SV's - especially if it's your year round commuter and gets left out in the rain.
Is there a rodent nesting in the airbox?
Clutch safety switches are good....well it's got fuel in it, I changed the air filter in the service.
If I leave her for a few days, n start her up , she fires, but when I switch it off and try to start her again, it just turns over ( but the turning over is healthy)
Any ideas ?
fuel tap vacuum is disconnected or sticky float bowls.

How do I check ? Or is it a bit technical for an amateur like myself

If you've had the tank up to swap the plugs over, then the vacuum pipe is the one that connects to the rear inlet stub & you may have trapped it on putting the tank back.
Lift the tank, you'll see the fuel tap, just make sure all the hoses are connected.
You didn't take any of these hoses off did you?
I never took any hoses off, but will check ....is there anything else I could check ?

I would check you are not kinking the fuel line when dropping the tank down
