Bike is curvy and I have been chasing a small coolant leak for a little while now.

Its leaking from the base gasket on the right hand side and seems to only leak when the bike is hot.

At first I thought it was some thing simple like a loose hose clamp, tightened them up but it continued, so used some coolant dye and a uv light to get to bottom of the problem and yep its the base gasket!.

So questions are:
Could this be related to my sticky coolant problem by any chance?.

Is this a common problem that others have come across?.

Has anyone experience of changing a base gasket?, I will be using Mr Haynes as a guide but is there any thing to watch out for?.

Cheers.

I'd say it's pretty rare, and I'd try re-torquing the head bolts before I'd pull the cylinder.

If its strange or rare it will happen to my engine for some reason!.

That's a good idea I'll give it a try, cheers.

Job's done, looking at the gasket can see it had been leaking out to the side of the coolant passage!.

Its not a bad job to do.
