As per the title really. I have considered it as I order a fair bit from them, I also have a Kindle so would be able to get free books. Any thoughts or is it a waste of money?

My membership ended in January and I'm yet to renew it but it saved me a fortune in fees and nice to have next day pick up at my local newsagent.

I found most of the cheapest items were available on prime (although if not Amazon it might not be next day delivery)

As for the films, we watched quite a few although some I paid for. Never used kindle so cannot say.

Overall, when I start ordering items again I will renew my membership, I thought it was a good product and the service/helpline were always excellent. Not that you wouldn't get that with non-prime anyway

If most of your purchases are for the Kindle, it's not worth it as Amazon automatically downloads for free anyway. Prime is good if you make a lot of physical purchases. I rarely buy other than Kindle downloads, so I don't have it myself. My other half buys a lot of electrical items and physical books and she has it. Too impatient to wait for slow deliveries.

Into my second year with it now - can't fault it. Use it for physical purchases only. Don't use the film service, nor do I have a kindle.

How much does it cost?

Its £79 p/year but I think you can do it per month. Works out about the same or so as Netflix.

Might be worth a look. Ebay not so good value for things and with post. It soon adds up to the £7 pm I guess.
Plus Sarah has a kindle and some of the revision books (hard copy) David has been using are far easier to locate on amazon.

Does anyone know if you can pay monthly? Can't see anything on Amazon about it.

No yearly only. Just get the month trial. And set a reminder to cancel it because you will forget :)

I thought the film selection was a bit pants tbh

I got an email from them and they said yearly only.

I was a lovefilm customer which was taken over by Amazon, service went down a bit but seems to be returning to a good standard again. I paid £4 a month for the love film and £5.99 for amazon prime movies, if i switched to prime I got free next day delivery and movies for £79 a year. Kinda made sense to switch and pay for the year. Still pay the £4 a month for Lovefilm, like getting DVD's delivered and better selection than Amazon movies.

I also bought the Amazon Fire syick for £35 and watch quite a lot of tv box sets, currently watching the killing, which I missed when first shown a few years ago.

As to paying monthly, I have a credit card I put all monthly payments on. I pay my bike insurance with it, as APR is way lower than insurance companies charge, and stick other things on it I want to pay monthly, so Amazon prime got stuck on it and increased my card payment by £6 a month.

i dont buy much from amazon so prime is a waste of money for me and if i do i can wait the extra few days for the free delivery. i tend not to watch tv shows until they have finished and then i'll buy the box set and gorge myself. my system is not connected to the internet so using their streaming service is a no go :-)

i have lovefilm and its a pretty good service but not as good as blockbuster was and lovefilm are really slow at adding new titles once they have been released. i'm the type that will wait as long as it takes. i use lovefilm to decide if i like the film enough to go and buy a copy for my collection. once i buy a film on dvd/br i'll rip it 1/1 ISO and watch it via the OPPO with local storage.

Amazon Fire is good for box sets, Plugs into an HDMI and streams via Wi-Fi, so you don't need a smart TV, the wee stick does it for you. I don't have a great internet speed, living in the sticks, but suffer very little buffeting / buffering. (You know what I mean!)

all of these streaming services are sketchy as to what you are getting when you sign up. netflix is the worst, start your 30day free trial... ermm no i want to see what content i'll be getting for my money first thanks then i'll decide. its the same with sky and virgin with their 'packages', why can i just choose the content i want on my box rather than a 'package' that i will never watch most of it. unless my googlefoo is rubbish i cannot find a listing of what you get for your money.

if someone came up with a pay per channel box rather than packages i would jump at the chance. why should i pay for content that i will never watch. i'm lucky if i watch 15 out of the channels currently on virgin and thats only on the odd occasion i do watch tv as most of the time its mind numbing dross that is on.

Has anyone got Now TV? I'm tempted but the fact that it is owned by sky is putting me off. Sky's streaming quality is god awful, and so is the user interface. It's pathetic how dated and slow it is. The quality isn't even 720p
